The green barrier was put up by Yamamoto to stop Muramasa's plan, and the 3 zanpaktou were trying to break the barrier, which would be the reason the barrier is still up right now even though those three are no longer there. Ichigo will use his hax power to break Yamamoto's barrier leaving him open for w/e Muramasa has in store for him.

and yeah, I was honestly surprised by the Shunsui's second zanpaktou spirit. I almost thought for a second that maybe the big skull girl was Zaraki's spirit for a huge twist, but which it obviously isn't as revealed not much later, just because she really didnt seem to match anything he described her as in the manga.

only weakness in that theory i see is that assumes yamamoto couldn't flat out destroy the zanpakuto. plus, the ring of fire inside seems to be keeping the prism from closing in on him, almost like he's protecting himself with the fire, not the prism.
