It might also have to do with the fact that the commander is now essentially in control of Soul Society and not the office of whatever number. Although the commander clearly isn't willing to listen to people, he probably realized Ichigo would help against Aizen.

On the surface kubo is just filling a plot hole, one that personally had been bugging me for awhile.

But it still makes sense in the canon, it was the central 46 that declared the vaizard be exterminated as if they were hollows, the central 46 no longer exists to give out their dogmatic brand of justice. We have never actually seen, iirc, a shinigami attacking the vaizard. Also with Aizen revealing what actually happen and the vaizard gaining control over their inner hollows, it isn't likely they will be turn down from helping defeat aizen, maybe even being asked to return to their squads. not that they would accept

I'm sure it's been mentioned before, maybe not, but Tosen definitely looks like Geordi LaForge. Have creators ever admitted admiration for Star Trekas main reason for designing character that way?

The only reason Aizen stopped turning shinigami into vizards in the middle of soul society was the fact that doing so might clue people in to what he was trying now that he'd found a scapegoat. The only thing more emasculating would have been Kenpachi getting his ass whooped in front of everyone which we know is impossible. The fact that such a thing was possible and happened was pure nightmare fuel for them and they simply don't want to think about it. It's some really big denial there and whenever the vizards are nearby the bitterness is really them trying really really hard not to think about what they know happened in the first place. In addition they're in the middle of a fight vs Aizen right now so they REALLY REALLY don't want to think about the fact that he logically can beat them all without sweating while doing the worst thing they can imagine.

It explains Byakuya talking about not revealing the mask during his fight with Ichigo even more since he knew the first thing that would happen is a death sentence despite Ichigo being able to hold back the hollow given the past actions of soul society.

I like this man's logic!

Not terrible, but not exactly interesting either. Ishida seems to have gotten much stronger, being able to stand with senbonzakura in bankai without any real trouble. Orihime and Rukia are their same old worthless selves.

unless shinji is insanely crazy with vaizard'd up bankai he'll have like what.... 10 seconds to own aizen with his mask on? I'm not sure how long he can keep his mask out for but yeah

we probably won't see unohana fight either. since she'll probably be weak from healing ichigo to full and skip off to heal everyone else. lame.
