Maybe it would amplify his power so much while in SSJ it was a sure death sentence but using it while normal wasn't worth it since you can just transform into a SSJ?

He only used it once with ssj in filler. Otherwise he never did.

I believe it was stated that Kaioken puts a significant strain on his body when he uses it, and that if he were to push himself too hard and use it with SSj his body wouldn't be able to handle it.

Something like that, I believe the Kaioken times X numbers meant he was multiplying his power level by that much, given the significant power boost SSJ already gives him, it would be way more difficult to not asplode from

well, I understand there was always a risk of danger, but he's done things to get himself killed purposely before without the use of kaoken.
Of course.. he's also not done things which would have saved the lives of others.
not killing Fat Buu when he said he could have, and the one I never understood, not killing Kid Buu when he said he could have. awww boohooo Vegeta wouldn't have gotten a chance to fight him bawwwww. This guy just got done killing every single person on the planet, plus like 5 other planets, but I'm going to take it easy on him so my douchebag of a friend, who also has threatened my loved ones and planet several times, wont get his feelings hurt.

I don't think this filler has been going on for a year yet, and I'm pretty sure I saw it posted multiple times in this topic that the filler would be ~52 episodes. =/

Toriyama kept on alternating between whether or not he wanted Goku or gohan to be the main character. Usually after he had Gohan around for a bit he realized Goku was way more awesome and brought him back multiple time. Not killing buu was one of his I'd like Gohan to be the main character phases.
If you're really desperate you can chalk it up to the whole Supersaiyans love battle thing. One could infer from that a theory that goku was essentially in a body which had the urge to beat the shit out of anything/anyone whom might be fun to fight. Goku refusing to get wished back to Earth(Namek/freeza saga) when taking that in mind would mean he was afraid of the possibility that he would go on a homicidal rampage when he got back vs everyone for the sheer fun of it so he wanted to get some more self control.
The whole not killing buu thing therefore would be because he was "under the influence" of being a SSj3 and wanted to fight Vegeta instead(biological imperative kinda like how moose/rams/etc butt horns?).

What are peoples opinions on the current filler now that it's ending? How would you compare it to Bounto Filler and/or the Captain Shūsuke Amagai Filler? Personally I like this filler over Bounto and Shūsuke, then see both of those as equals. However watching Bounto Filler was down right painful. Shūsuke Filler was more like "LOL I'm enjoying this hasty, terrible filler drawings."

Zanpaktou > Bounto > Captain lame as far as fillers for me.

The Bounto arc helped with character development, foreshadowing Ichigo's initial fear of his own hollow power. The Zanpaktou arc helped to establish and explain the origin of their powers. All the Captain Amagai arc did was introduce annoying filler characters to recycle for later fillers.

I think everyone will like this filler the most because it actually has SOME point. I'm sure if it was in the manga we would get more detail with some of the less-used zanpaktou but oh well.

I was a little disappointed some characters zanpaktous weren't shown but I partly expected that. I mostly wanted to see unohanas VC do some shit and see more of ukitake/other dude action. also it would've been cooler if old yama's did more then just lolfirecircle ah well.

Hmm I thought that Goku's power progression in stages went Normal > Kaoken > SSJ > etc.

Kinda like saying Kaoken is SSJ v.05 and SSJ is the new upgraded version with the bugs fixed. At least that's how I always looked at it.

I'm looking forward to this arc ending in bleach, I have to agree that for filler it has been really good, but I'm definitely ready for it to get back to the war.

From what we saw in those Carnival whatever previews, it seems like they might cut the whole stupid "cut off my arm and leg too!!!" bit seeing as I doubt they'll show Ulquiorra in the state he was in.

That's because Kenpachi is the only shinigami that holds everything back he possibly can so that he can enjoy the fight. None of the others hold back power because for any other reason than they fear it. Kenny doesn't fear his own power or using it, he just doesn't want to end the fight too quickly or he won't have fun.

He is probably the only other character than Ichigo that has a legitimate excuse for DEM powerups, and only Ichigo because he's the main character.
