all i'm really disappointed about is how fast shinji and shunsui are out of the fight. there's so much potential bad-assery in those two that was completely thrown aside. (that is, assuming they are out of the fight; both their zanpakuto could forseeably have fucked with aizen sparing them).

only thing worse is if kubo pulls a general hospital ending to this whole thing, and the last chapter is ichigo waking up saying "whoa what a dream" and just saunters off to school.

I love this.

Sometimes it feels like they release a chapter and then based on what we say they write the next chapter. It feels like we predict shit really well sometimes and I don't know whether it's coincidence or just the writers seriously listening to readers reactions for inspiration on the story. I think either realization is a bit scary though, one is poor writing the other is lazy writing.

I think the writers are actually skimming their fansites for ideas when they run out. It's the only plausible explanation for why we've been able to predict them so well. We've probably been the ones writing the plot ever since the end of the SS arc.

Some prime examples:

1) Stark is a wolf
2) Tousen/Gin/Aizen with resurrecion
3) Stark as #1 Espada
4) Shinji's release
5) Aizen escaping death with illusion
6) Harribel being the last one standing and being betrayed
7) Yammy being the strongest Espada

I mean, at this point, one has to wonder how Kubo is going to ever tie all of this together. It's like one big board RPG complete with d20s and saving throws.

Hey guys, check this out... Aizen wanted to trick all of SS to break barriers so he could become the new King and to do this he needed an army of really strong hollows to invade soul society so he could destroy karakura town and make the king's key and he used Orihimme to help further his plans by dividing the armies of soul society and forcing Ichigo and his friends into a pointless 3-year long rescue mission where he didn't really need Orihimme after all and lost 95% of his army, leaving the top 3 Espada and their fraccion, who after a 6 month long battle, were all destroyed in fashionable ways as a plot device to show off shinigami power and lo and behold here comes Wonderweiss who owns up and starts fighting Kensei who's been forgotten and Yammy is kicking butt in Hueco Mundo while all the captains and Ichigo, who has immense power thanks to Unohana, still can't touch Aizen who just wasted everyone in one hit.

Actually I could have predicted they were attacking an injured "dummy" from forever ago, when they began fighting in the first place against the Espada. Would have guessed it was Momo, Matsumoto, or even Uchitake as well. Glad it was Momo. However, this creates a plot-hole Aizen - Momo relationship if Gin is the main boss.

Speaking of Gin I'm with Souj on his ieda of Gin being the main baddie. The fact that everyone is going all out on Aizen and Gin is just WATCHING, is highly suspicious. Starting to think the relationship is much like Shishio Makoto & Seta Sōjirō in Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) as well. I mean Ichimaru and Seta Sōjirō are waaaay too alike:

1) Both are "youths" that were trained by someone older and more experienced than they are.
2) Both smile waaaay too fucking much, and hide their true intent behind such a smile. (this hinders the observer from discerning their thoughts and or movements.)
3) Both were "found" at a young age, to be very skilled at swordplay, after killing a number of people.
4) Both are depicted as "plain" when it comes to dressing up.
5) They both use a dilect in Japanese that is polite, but indirect.
6) Both are exceptionally fast in running and movement.

Shishio did mention that if Seta had a few more years on him, he would be far stronger than Shishio could ever be. This also might be an allusion to Gin if Kubo is drawing inspiration from Samurai X. Was just waiting for someone to make a subtle comment towards Gun, and it happened. Gin might be the endboss fo' sho.

it's also been said since forever that aizen isn't the real badguy and Gin is. so, even if that turns out to be the truth. it's not going to be an OHAMGAWD TWIST.

as much as I like aizen as a badguy, he's retardedly broken that's it's not even entertaining. kubo can make chapters upon chapters of him getting his ass kicked and in the back of my head I'll be second-guessing if it's an illusion or not. the whole illusions thing just seems like a huge cop-out to actually make someone a powerful character. DBZ was more entertaining with it's retarded "LOL ABSORB YOU! I GET STRONGER!" shithole plot device

it's almost impossible for me to get excited or worked up with seeing someone fight aizen because it could be an illusion. His ability is irritating and just mocks the reader. I just want him to die already... or mabye he actually *IS* already dead and gin has been pulling the strings since the SS arc?! NOBODY KNOWS IT'S GENIUS OH MAN TWIST! /shyamalan

Totally agree on the lack of suspense part. It's hard to get worked up and excited about any fight with Aizen because it's only going to end one of two ways: Aizen one-shots them after displaying that he's so powerful even without KS, or, Aizen uses KS to one-shot them after displaying that he's not powerful enough without KS.

It just seems like a contradiction. "Sure, KS is a fearsome ability but if that's all there was to Aizen there'd be many who could defeat him." "LOL WHEN WASN'T I USING KS???"

It almost seems like Kubo specifically created it so that he could back to it as an easy plot device whenever he needed Aizen to not lose a fight. And seriously, all the captains could not be so stupid as to forget that they could release their shikai without having to use a command.

Meh. I dunno. Two weeks is a long time for Kubo to come with some bullshit explanation as to how Ichigo even stands a chance.
