Okayyyyyyy, wtf is going on in the latest chapter? Exactly how much time has passed since Aizen obtained the Hogkyw/e orb and created the Arracanar? It couldn't have been that long and there's no way Noitora could have gotten so much stronger than Nel from the first time they fought and now. The time period isn't matching up in my head between Aizen betraying Soul Society, the creation of the Arracanar, and now.

I haven't read the last 2-3 chapters, but from what I took (mostly from Grimmjow's backstory) is that Espada was a rank attained by the most elite hollows, the ones that are able to absorb the powers of a whole ton of other ones. And the Hougyoku basically speeds up that process and without the cost of however many hollows dying. Which uhh...sounds pretty hax...I dunno if that's accurate lol

That's pretty much the same understanding I had. Espada were always the most elite/powerful hollows I thought. Aizen uses the Hougyoku to increase the hollow's powers and turns them into arrancar (which I think was explained as tapping into Shinigami powers - as opposed to Shinigami tapping into hollow powers ala Vaizard). I think after Aizen created his Arrancar he probably remade the Espada to reflect their new powers. I could be off too of course...

Hougyoku - A device Urahara Kisuke created in his days of being the 12th Squad Captain of the Gotei 13 and also the First Bureau Chief of the Technological Development Bureau. This device allows a Shinigami’s transformation into a Hollow and vice versa. It will then allow the Shinigami-Hollow hybrid climb a greater level, surpassing the limits of their abilities. Hougyoku was dangerous and Urahara Kisuke was exiled to the real world for his creation.

And Ishida's dad calling Ichigo's dad a worse parent than him in the last episode (don't really remember that from the manga) seems kinda weird to me.... I wonder if that could possibly explain why Ichigo is a Vizard. Experimentation in the past maybe?

That line with the fathers made more sense in the manga. Basically Ishida was comparing his strategy of being honest with his son and helping him compared to Kurosaki who's been hiding everything from his son.

Edit - And yeah, there's been no real explanation of the Vaizard origins, could very well be Urahara created them originally, would also explain why both he (and Isshin) knew about them and that they were going to come and recruit Ichigo.

Fixed. When the hell do main protagonists not have some winning advantage? That's mostly why they're the main character.

Doesnt explain why he have it? Sangoku was sayan, Naruto has a demon inside him (and everyone can be strong)..there is usually something special about the main character.

His father being crazy strong (and being able to hide it as well as have it so that all of SS says nothing to Ichigo about it) and also being good buddies with the super genius mastermind of the entire plot Urahara Kisuke most likely has something to do with it.

136/137 was decent filler, leading into 138 which is when the story got back on track.
