DBZ's Hyperbolic Time Chamber had food. They're going to go 3months without any food or water?
And yes, they do need to eat, even if they're dead things. Though I'm sure Kubo threw that little knowledge out the window without a single thought.

This is beyond ridiculous.

It's pretty common in Bleach though, certainly nothing to get worked up over.

At least not as much as his inability to keep a story moving more than 5 chapters without some kind of stupid ass pace-destroying flashback sequence. Kubo's greatest trick was convincing his readership he's telling a story, rather than 'oh look he's quicker than lightning that's why the action is so badly staged' fight sequences punctuated by Ichigo mugging Keanu faces.

They are spirits. Their bodies might need food to function, but their spirits do not (afaik, link me if I'm wrong with proof) so they don't need food.

And I really didn't mind this chapter that much granted nothing happened, Isshin is always a bag of epicness, and tatsuki and mizu were entertaining, and the thing that makes it take the cake is next week Shirosaki shows his pale self again... Unless kubo forgot Shirosaki took over zangetsu that is

I'm not going to dig through the chapters, but it was one of the shinigami's flashbacks when they were a kid, before they knew they had "shinigami powers". The kid collapsed, and some gotei 13 person walked by and gave them food, saying that people with high reiesu get hungry and need food.

Easy thought process:

Where Isshin and Ichigo are was at one point a prison. As such, there is likely some source of nutrition.

Alternatively, it's so inconsequential that they really could just pull bread from their sleeves and I wouldn't care.

It was the Gin and rangiku flashback. and in laymans terms to end the arguement pretty much what fuel they use they need to replinish

I could have sworn Tatsuki and whatshisface had somewhat different personalities. It's like he reread the old chapters then made a caricature of them.

That's how I remember whatshisface being. Tatsuki seems different. Though I forget what all has happened with her since the first SS arc, so I don't even remember if she's had words with Ichigo since around Innoue disappearing. Of course, I also don't remember them both being so aware and "accepting" of Ichigo's shinigami self.

Yeah he was like that before but they basically made the character traits more "extreme" is what i'm getting at. Sure one could claim stress as the reason for the guy but with Tatsuki it's jarring for her to randomly act so different.
Kubo just looked at her and said she likes to hit things so lets do that alot and added in some Ichigo worship. She's not even worried about her Orihime aka her best friend whom she has been willing to DIE to protect at all, not even in a little thought bubble.

The plot hole there being the shinigami eating in several different occasions in the SS arc, and there being food stores in Roukongai, etc

You could just retcon it by saying that they do it for personal pleasure, not out of need, though.
