I actually liked this chapter. Kubo is finally starting to explain what the fuck is going on, at least with Ichigo. Zangetsu pretty much confirms Ichigo stopped progressing as a shinigami when he started depending on his hollow for everything.

EDIT: It might just be the end of Hollow Ichigo. The whole bit is growing stale and requires closure. Kubo also stated there's at most, 2-3 arcs left. Might just be time to start wrapping things up.

which was extremely predictable and figured out by everyone the second he killed that thing in the hyperbolic time chamber.

I wiki'd Mizuiro and I still don't know who that is. All I know now is that it's one of his classmates. someone help me out!

It may or may not be. If you think about it, Ichigo has had differing stages of learning how to deal with his Hollow powers.

Against Byakuya, they completely took over for the first time and he lost all control to Shirosaki. He had to fight him off internally, and afterward, he feared that power of completely taking over. If you'll remember the Arancar invasion, simply using the Black Getsuga was giving Shirosaki more and more control.

Then later, he started his Vizard training (and honestly, he really didn't complete it) and he was able to only partially control his hollow powers as seen by the short time he could wear his mask. Even when his hollow powers (pre-SSJ2) seemed to peak against Grimmjaw, he still was hesitant to use them...hell, even Ulq had to basically force him to use his mask.

Then of course, Ulq causes Ichigo to go completely berserk and basically go full-hollow on him with massive amounts of power. As much as we all made fun of it back then, Ichigo's "cut off my arm and leg" speech might have had more purpose than we initially thought (thanks to Kubo taking forever to get to the point). Not only did he say he lost all control once again, but he was genuinely mortified by that fact, to the point of requesting Ulq even things up.

I don't think Ichigo has ever really had control over Shirosaki or hollow powers. He seems to fear them. Shirosaki scares him. The thought of his hollow powers completely taking over scares him. Like Zangetsu said, it's the source of his despair and he has never come to terms with it or conquered it.

Of course, I'm using logic so this could all get shot to hell next chapter.

Fuck, I wrote all that and forgot my other point: it may not be the end of hollow Ichigo, but the beginning of a more perfect fusion of Hollow/Shinigami and one that he can control. If you remember, Aizen called the Vizards an imperfect combination. Perhaps he is expecting Ichigo to be able to complete the process without the aid of the Hogu.
