Does anyone else find it annoying that we had that cliffhanger several chapters ago where Aizen was proclaiming 'Ichigo you are both a Human and a....' and now its 'A mere human!'. Though to be fair, Kubo has forgotten more important things.

They explained it the very next chapter. He was born from a human and shinigami. I don't see a need to constantly point that out either when everyone else in Soul Society considers him human as well.

Chapter was ridiculously bad-ass, this Deicide arc is going out with a bang. Hated the story for a minute but Kubo's art is top notch, I'm really hoping for an Urahara monologue after everything is over where he retcons Aizen's bullshit with something that makes sense.

He befriended Gin because he wanted to see how Gin would attempt to take his life, I think.

Curious to see how he'll get his powers back, if they are really gone forever then it's in Orihime or Urahara's court. Can't see this being the end of the series, it does not feel epic enough.

I agree it'll be kind of a sour way to end it. And while it can allow for some redirection, I really hope it doesn't try to emphasize the "comedy" I've seen some around here say they like.

I still hope the hougyokyou lives through all this and chooses Orihime as the new host for the main villain in the final arc. Shit would be awesome.

Aizen didn't really befriend anyone, just needed fodder characters to weaken Soul Society just enough to where he himself can take them out with ease. He even stated all he did was tell the Espada to follow him but to never trust him. As far as why he hasn't released in front of Ichigo yet, I can only assume Kubo wants to insinuate Aizen is drunk with power and is nowhere near as calculating as he once was. When Urahara was fighting him Aizen said something similar to that effect, that he's so strong he doesn't give a shit basically.

AFAIK he has only used the initial release/hypnosis during SS ceremonies, and they've never actually shown it. Considering that plus that they also made a big deal about Ichigo being 'immune' to it, it seems implied that it's inconvenient to do, time consuming, and/or has some other limitations. I can't imagine that it will ever be properly explained thou.

I don't think Aizen ever really needed Bankai. I think he has that pride thing where he's confident that he has enough Reiatsu to be happy with his Shikai... thus he tricked people into believing he had one.

Either that, or he has a Bankai and it won't serve him any purpose here (Because Kubo backed himself in a corner with his shikai... I mean what could his Bankai be? complete complete hypnosis?).
