I wouldn't be mad with this, seeing how Ichigo/Urahara would be out of the way. He got Yoruichi smashed so good that she will never turn against him.

That being said, I'd honestly prefer Ichigo lose his powers, only to have his powers return in their minuscule original form, then have him get put back on guard duty in the human world... Hell I really just want it to be like the beginning of Bleach again, back when the story hadn't gone to shit yet... Watching the beginning of Bleach now is like looking at a girl in your high school yearbook, knowing now she became a crack whore two years into college...

Wouldn't Ichigo be immune to Aizen's shikai since he's touched the sword at 418 or something? I don't have it on this laptop, but when he stopped Aizen's sword with his hand. (Unless the info Gin acquired is a mistake too)

Looking at the story in the manga right now, honestly I think this was a really smart move (and also the only move) on Kubo's part to basically return the story to something simpler. I'm just looking at these manga pages and at Aizen's bullshit transformation, now Ichigo's insane transformation, all this talk of different dimensions and everything...it really has gotten just completely out of hand, Kubo knows it, and Kubo knows he basically wrote himself into a corner. All of you people saying how retarded the story has been for a while now -- you're right. And it feels like the reset button is about to be pressed. Where is there to go to beyond beings so powerful they're in a completely different dimension from the rest of the world? I see these last few chapters as Kubo having his fun, he knows it's ridiculous/retarded and he's playing it up as much as possible before things settle down to what DrRuler just described.

I'm pretty sure he meant you had to be holding the sword (and still holding it) before the shikai was activated to avoid it from trapping you in the illusion. That would mean as long as you held the sword Aizen releasing it wouldn't have an effect on you. I still don't think that will matter though, as I'm pretty sure this fight has gone past the point where Aizen would use the illusion to get out of something, (from a fiction writing standpoint, it would still make sense in the world of logic) combined with the FGT supposedly taking away Ichigo's powers, meaning there won't be a second chance after the inevitable "I'm behind you!" that would come with his illusion.

Then again Kubo has proven countless times he is a terrible writer so we just have to wait and see what he tries to pull out of his ass next...

More like - there was no purpose of the last 2 years of Arrancar crap and for Aizen's powerups since he didn't even need them to win until Isshin and Urahara showed up.

Nah, his hollow+shinigami powers are fused now so it's safe to assume he'll lose both after the FGT.
