[Correction]

I'm extremely tempted to go back and read the first 100 chapters of Bleach to see what went wrong, exactly. Kubo's problem over the last five years of Bleach has been pacing, pacing, pacing, and I don't remember where exactly it began to slide downhill (inb4 introduction to the hogo). Stuff like Ishida not sharing his suspicions about the return of Ichigo's reaitsu will probably be left dangling for another few months. What motivated his decision to not share is completely left out and doesn't make sense given their history. Kubo is creating artificial tension with such 'court intrigue' and is Liefelding it up with random shadows on the face of a guy eating ramen and stupid full-page 'reveals' like Karin visiting Urahara. This self-indulgence adds nothing to the interest behind a freshly-launched arc. I want to give this arc an honest, uncolored shot at not sucking but Kubo's already falling on old habits.

not to mention we have 0 closure from the last arc. Nel & co? Grimmjaw? Gin? Arrancars? the two bodies Mayuri found? anything to do with the Soul King? We're still missing 3 god damn captains.

when everything I just stated was brought up 100+ chapters ago and that arc has ended and we start a whole new completely unrelated arc, yes, I'm sure it's just because I don't have enough patience.

Yea, I know when I read a story I like missing all the necessary closure from the last few hundred chapters and just act like it never happened.

If it wasn't for the scene between Orihime and Ishida, I was going to stick to my theory that this is all a dream/coma Ichigo is stuck in. It has basically been surreal nonsense with no direction until the final half of this chapter(the first half being the most absurd of all). At least now we got a clue where this is going (Now we find out what the hell is going on with Isshin - as if Ichigo didn't ask these kind of questions within the last year or whatever the timeskip was).

In Kubo's defense, Ichigo did say during the Deicide arc that he won't ask his father any questions and would rather wait until Isshin feels comfortable enough to tell Ichigo everything himself. As far as some of you guys wanting closure for some of the other things, forget it, might as well fill in the blanks with your own imagination.

Ramen guy looks like a cross between Aizen and Ganju. Potential for half relative caught in the middle of a resurrecting conflict in the future...


Overall kinda glad for the Isshin background arc. But I'm really worried that Kubo hit a very slippery slope for new big bads when the last arc just wiped out pretty much all of Hueco Mundo's most powerful Hollows on top of Menos Grande's being reduced to mook level encounters.

Seem to recall Kubo in an old interview saying those bodies would be important. If I recall the triple digits properly, they were just displaced prior Espada. I guess Grimmy could've technically been one for the brief time Luppi had his spot, but I guess you kinda need the Aizen Seal of Approval. Would rather dodge this argument since it's shades of the old "There are no VLs in the Espada!" argument when there were at least 3, 4 if you count Ulq.

Should we take Kubo for his word (hold your lulz), any importance these bodies had will either be tied to this Isshin arc or the one after. I can see possible reasons for both scenarios, personally.

They are the Privaron Espada, the weaker ones Ichigo, Ishida, and Chad took on while running through the Las Noches palace. They are former Espada who lost their rank.
