Like I and other have said before, Bleach typically is better animated than it is in manga form. Bleach is like the Capcom of the big 3. Fun fighting, shitty story.

Is the Manga still going? How close to it is the Anime?
In the Bleach universe:
When a Human dies, their soul goes to Soul Society.
Shinigami are picked out from among the souls of dead Humans who show potential.
I guess we're assuming that when a Shinigami dies, their soul is gone for good.(?)
Ichigo is half Human, half Shinigami.
What happens to him if he dies?
Perhaps it's based on which form he's in when it happens?
Perhaps he was "killed" when he borrowed Rukia's powers at the very beginning? Considering that he can still go back to Human form, I doubt this is the case.
As such, perhaps he could reacquire his Shinigami powers by dying and having his Human soul sent to Soul Society?
How would that work? As a half-Shinigami/half-Human, is he already half dead?
Perhaps being half-Shinigami means he's only devoting half of his soul to his "power", and would be twice as strong if he were full Shinigami.
Maybe he dies as a Human and loses the half of his soul that is already Shinigami, but at the same time converts his Human half to Shinigami so that he can replace his lost power (complete with retraining, no doubt)?
Hopefully some Manga readers can tell me if any of this is on the right track. As it stands, I don't know if I'm up for sticking with this show. They're undoubtedly about to launch into another filler arc, and I don't think I can take another one of those.
Anime is actually extremely close to the manga. This Aizen fight happened maybe a few months ago? Which means the anime is probably going to end up being filler for a very long time, starting in the next few weeks.
edit: And to answer your questions, I have no idea, and I don't think the creator of Bleach knows the answers either.
Yeah, I could maybe see an episode or two of aftermath now before we basically hit the 18 month timeskip the manga went through. Conveniently enough, that legitimately leaves room for filler with a powerless Ichigo and other characters being the focus, but they could also do some random middle-of-nowhere plot like they did with the Zanpakuto or Amagai arc.
According to Spacecat at bleachasylum spoilers likely won't be till tomorrow.
Well, they've yet to explore Isshin's past. They could do a filler focused around him.
Likely they'll just do a random filler with Ichigo as main protagonist that's outside of the timeline that takes place in an unknown time, like the past fillers. Or another "dream world" that's dragged out to last for 18 months.
A canon-esque filler like what Naruto did for the bubble guy jinchuriki would be pretty cool. Have it be about the reconstruction of hueco mundo or whatever, as long as it's relevant because I'm expecting a Naruto~Naruto Shippuden-sized two year filler considering how little the manga has progressed since the Aizen fight.
I'm still of the personal opinion that Ichigo is Kaien reincarnated. It's been hinted at before when Rukia recognized the simularities between the two.
Well, we know there is the Division 0 tasked with protecting something pretty epic, and Aizen was hell bent on creating that King's Key for the purpose of taking "God's throne."
I don't know if it's exactly Nirvana, but it does seem as if there's a higher plane beyond Soul Society/Hueco Mundo.
Oh god damnit
Spoiler: show
Haha
I wonder what extent of his powers he'll get back
Quick, someone find a pic of Ichigo in a bright orange jumpsuit. The swastika symbol becomes huge
Ichigo throws it like a Fuuton Rasenshuriken (TN: from Naruto, for those who don't know)
Rukia doen't have the rack to pull off Hinata.
And shouldn't Uryuu be the super smart one?
RASENGA TENSHOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
