From what I remember, in SS, AA took Kaien's powers/memory. AA was then sent to HM where he absorbed more Hollows powers and became an Espada, where he used Kaien's form/memory to play tricks with Rukia

As much as I hate to admit it, (especially since he copied Rasenshruiken, including the part that it can't be thrown initially) I actually like this chapter and last weeks. Ichigo strait up running away from his opponent until he figures out what he needs to do in order to attack is classic bleach.

Isn't that the exact opposite of classic Ichigo?
He was always "fuck it", charge in blindly with no clue as to how he actually gauged up o his opponent.
Aside from his Kenpachi fight, but he was running away for his life with no hope of winning for that fight.

Yeah I don't hate this sequence of events either, but Kubo's terrible, awful, glacial pacing is kind of wrecking any sense of urgency. I'm not asking for initial D levels of spectator engagement, but Kubo is either unwilling or unable to make the characters in the background more than just puppets wired up to react with 'NO!' or 'It can't be!' or 'He...He...' moments spooged all over the page every chapter. They're not important. They're just there to open a door for Ichigo then fade away forever. They exist only so that Kubo can stop writing the main action when he runs out of ideas. Next chapter "ICHIGO LANDS A FATAL BLOW ON MISTER PIG, BUT WAIT!!" and then "MEANWHILE AT URAHARA SHOP LOL IT'S ICHIGO'S SISTER WHATSERFACE" for 30 chapters.

I'm numb to the usual disappointments Kubo dishes out so I won't say I had my hopes up real high, but that is simultaneously able to keep me interested in a series when my expectations don't rise above 'meh' levels. It's like waiting for this (http://www.boxcar2d.com/) to produce a viable car. You see the hilarious failure mixed with the 'oh god almost' success and wait for something to rise from the primordial ooze of suck.

I didn't mind this chapter much either, sense he has some way of attacking he can still be the main character, and I like how kubo is generally pacing how he gets his shinigami powers back. If he were to get all his powers back now after it being said not to long ago that he could not, I dont think It would be as entertaining as it is.think about it, all I chigo go would have to do is realease his spiritual pressure and he could kill any thing at his previous power level. That said, lulz at the dumb looking getsuga.
