That was a fun chapter. I like how it was rukia all along and Isshin seems to have given up his powers or something for ichigo to have them instead.

There was a specific panel with Urahara and Isshin asking Rukia to feed her reiatsu into a contraption we can only assume was used to make the glowing sword. So unless it was done prior to or off-screen, I doubt any of Isshin's power was given and/or used to revive Ichigo's shinigami powers.

EDIT: Fuck it was a good chapter. I'm mad at myself now for actively seeking out spoilers lol.

We probably wont get an answer anytime soon, and I doubt it'll be explained either way, I just think it would be cool if that's his base form, because that would mean maybe his bankai could be something awesome this time around.

Wow, crazy turn of events. I'm interested in how it will turn out.

I'll be kind of disappointed if Ichigo lost his hollow side though.

Though I see this as a way to make Ichigo a lot weaker than he was. At the end of the last arc, before he used FGT, he was leagues above everyone. I doubt there was any plausible way for there to be any threat to him, so I can see Kubo finding ways to make Ichigo a hell of a lot weaker.

Because he knows Zangetsu's name and has formed that link with his zanpaktou. Plus since he still has the level of reiatsu/lack of control over reatsu, he is unable to seal it.

But that's the logical explanation, that doesn't mean it's going to happen given Kubo rules.

I'm glad we skipped another 6-months training arc of Ichigo regaining Shinigami powers before going after the Fullbring though.

I don't think that was really his, it had the exact same hilt as rukia's.

His first form was pretty much just him using Rukia's power. His own kind of served as a battery, yes, but had no personal knowledge of it and pretty much tapped into on accident.

As is, we've basically heard him referred to as a fully open faucet with his power, which translated to his always-on shikai. If we wanted to consider use of the FGT as the faucet suddenly being turned off, this reboot might be more of a gradual opening or one he could have better control over. I'd imagine the issue of power creep is still real, and if we did want to look at Ishida as captain-class who got one-shotted, Ichigo starting out any less could be rather detrimental.

Unfortunately, I see our duo of villains getting away, but if it leads toward answering some older, open questions, I can't complain too much. Realistically, the "toughest" of Hollows have pretty much been dealt with in the past arc, with I think only Halibel surviving of 1-10. It'd be awesome if she and Nel set up some kind of lesbian matriarchy in HM, but I can't really see any kind of organized Hollow group being an immediate threat with most of the known Arrancar/VLs dead and gone. There's still far too little we know about Hell or the King's dimension, but if we were take Aizen's word on him being kind of a tyrant (I know, I'm paraphrasing), it might be interesting.

I thought all Aizen said was, "How can you serve that 'thing'?" which I took as the spirit king being some kind of monster. And there's still the royal guard to deal with.

Because Fullbring is hollow related I'm going to assume we'll see Hollow Ichigo again. I mean his completed fullbring looked hollow-ish.

That being said; I still thing Aizen will escape he'll and still be the ultimate boss. He will probably cause a riot in hell with the whole "just as planned" bs claiming that he planned on ending up in he'll so he could transform the residents of hell in to even stronger Arrancar, to eventually bust through in to king's realm.

His old form up until the encounter with Byakuya/Renji was due to Rukia's power. After the beginning of the training/SS arc, it was all his own power. Nobody else's. This time around, I doubt he's taking power as well. It's more like the flowing water analogy - Using FGT dammed up the water. The Fullbring training started a crack. The sword was the dambreaker.

Sort of like taking an arrow from another Quincy 19mm to the right of the heart in order to get their powers back.

The way I see it, this new shikai form is most likely due to him mastering FGT, and Zangetsu by relation. When Ichigo showed up in SS to take out Aizen, his bankai form had changed (the tsuba, the extended chain around the arm, the glove, etc). This probably happened to Zangetsu's shikai form as well. I miss the bandaged look with the hilt and how it wrapped around the blade. I wonder if the chain now extends or if it's a pure melee weapon.

Was an awesome chapter, though. Is it me, or is Rukia..smaller? Maybe it's the angle. Still, I like how she was smiling like a Cheshire cat as she 'stabbed' him to give him his powers back or..whatever the hell it does.

Rukia was wearing gloves or something and iirc she still had a sword on her hip so I doubt she's going to be drained of any of her own powers this time.
