It's pretty much the same, a bit more chipped though. If I remember correctly he had a regular katana when he ran in the streets of Zaraki, before he became a Captain. Now it's more liek a long nodachi type. Also if you go back to his first fight with Ichigo, Old Man Zangetsu explains how he's similar to Kenpachi's sword, then all of the talk on how they can't converse with each other, and hurting each other's potential powers and blah blah.

One Piece never has to my knowledge never done that. Apart from obvious stuff like jumping so fast to propel off air and fruit powers that give flight. Bleach has never explained the floating in mid air that I can remember, unless it was in a data book. They are technically ghosts/spirits so gravity wouldn't affect them in theory but it's never been stated I don't think. Just as commonly the cliched blurred/obscured back ground is used since it's fast movement as opposed to straight up flight

As is, we've never seen Chad, Orihime, or Ishida fly (he rides little light frisbees!) so I think them being in spirit form is a partial contributor. I'd also bump it up to a certain skill level as shinigami and either projecting their own spiritual energy outward to create footholds, or somehow manipulate latent energy around them. In the case of the beginning arcs and inside SS, we possibly didn't see someone flying because they could've hit the upper barrier. Either way, we've seen times where people get knocked around and regain their footing mid-air, but what's bothered me is the few times where sudden falls happen (like in HM) where the only thing that happened is the floor going out beneath them and they didn't have the awareness to get their air footing.

Anyways, just wanted to say this chapter was too epic. I love the subtle reference Rukia made to Ulquiorra. The way she told them off that they can never compare to the despair Ichigo has already been through I took it as, "Ginjou? Nigga please you ain't shit." The practice swing bit was just icing on the cake. Some crazy shit is going to have to happen for the fullbring crew to escape now, gonna have to go with that Yukio dude using his game console to get them all the fuck out of there.

Yeah, I'm really going to be pissed if they get out of this, even though it is incredibly probable. Hell, Ginjo's most likely going to be saved right before he gets hit.
I wish Ginjo/tsukiwhoever both just die and this arc meets an abrupt end so we can get on to the next.
