Yeah, but Ikkaku (and most of the 11th division), seem to like getting their asses whipped before returning the favor, so even if he was a Captain, he might have.

It's possible, but to be honest, I can see them getting 24 episodes out of this to get Ichigo's powers back and then jump to a filler arc. This week's episode was pretty decent with pacing, minus perhaps the beginning and some of the Orihime time.

I'll be impressed if they squeeze more then 12 episodes out of the current arc. The filler arc that just finished was really good, they should've stretched that out a bit more like the Bount arc. Even though I think this manga arc has been entertaining, there really hasn't been any substance to it besides the whole Ginjou was a substitute shinigami bit. I see them going the Naruto route and throw in random episodes with a shinigami ostrich.
