People said the same thing about Grimmjow, Nel, Ganju, etc. Wanna know what happened to them?

Urahara said a long while back that sometimes, humans that die retain their memories as Ryoka in the Seireitei. This is a two-way street, sometimes dead Souls/Shinigami (they are reborn as humans) retain their memories as a soul. Both are very rare, of course.

Tsukishima died to Byakuya a long time ago, and got reborn as a human. His mother was attacked by a Hollow, and he got Fullbring powers. He retained his memories as a Shinigami, and because Fullbring powers manifest themselves in a way that mirrors the person's desires/soul, he has a sword that looks like a Zanpakuto. Because he had one.

The last filler wasn't bad, but yes, 343+ is the current manga arc.

Last filler was really good in my opinion, top notch animation and a decent story-line. It actually incorporates a few ideas and characters Kubo forgot about in the manga.

It's as good as a filler gets at the very least.
