This is... Arguably the worst chapter ever. I don't give a fuck about their past; they're just fodder. If he wanted to attempt to make us feel bad for them he should have fleshed them out earlier - not when people want nothing more than the, getting one-shotted. This chapter could be removed completely. Only the last page had actual plot progression...

I'm really disappointed at everyone taking forever with their fights too. Ichigo and Byakuya are the only ones with any remote excuse for not killing them in .3 seconds.

I liked it - this kind of break from the action has been done before in the series (the chapter on Grimmjow's past comes to mind) but it could have been done in a less confusing manner. I didn't even know what was going on until about five pages in, and I didn't realize that it wasn't just the background on one of the fullbringers until close to the end which made me have to go back and re-read the whole thing.

I really hope Rukia doesn't end up losing to Riruka. She doesn't have to kill her or anything (Riruka seemed like she didnt want Ichigo's powers to begin with, not sure why she hasn't just explained that or why she now seems to be more interested in actually attacking Rukia), but it would be nice if she won a fight for once and maybe looked like she'd developed in some way rather than just being Ichigo's pain in the ass sidekick.

Meh chapter, their background stories didn't really provide much justification for their behaviour. Big dude was obviously pretty nuts, Riruka just seems like a spoiled brat, the only one that suggested she'd want to go round killing people was Jackie's.

I thought the Jackie backstory was pretty well done by comparison. Only one with a legit motive to hate the world. All the others were just douchebags and/or spoiled brats.

And oddly enough, Jackie seemed to be the most sane one, based off her attitude with Ichigo when they were training.

I don't really get what happened there. So he grabbed some of the blades from his bankai and suddenly that makes him able to punch a hole through someone with his fist? Still, you have to admit Tsukishima gave him a hard time there.
