Man, I've been saying this forever. I'm almost certain Arrancar Arc was artificially extended beyond what he wanted by his Jump editor now. All that shit with the Hougoukyo still doesn't make any sense.

Zero Squad? Ichigo's Birth? Arrancars, Quincy, Vizard and Shinigami teaming up against a greater enemy? Plus Aizen Troll? Body is ready.

Its doubtful that any editor would ask him to overextend an arc like that, it definetly didn't help him make any new fans.

Kubo seems to be the one who wants to stretch Bleach out as far as possible, judging from his 10 year statement.

Kubo is saving the "surprise" for later, I thought it was stupid to not mention them right away.

I don't think they are going to be the main bad guy however, the Spirit king will fill that role just fine (especially after what Urahara and Aizen said).

I also can't be to be surprised when we will find out that Quincy's technology was used to make shinigami/hollow hybrid. Oh, and they based it on Kaien's DNA. There we go, everything is explained!

I got more of a feeling that the disappearance of hollows was something to do with the royal realm; however I can't think of a reason for that to make sense.

Yeah I'm expecting it's the quincy taking revenge or something and exterminating loads of hollows their way to mess up soul society or whatever the reason was for their original extermination. Hopefully that means the research guy will finally get what's coming to him (why is it okay that he brutally tortured and murdered Ishida's granddad along with loads of other quincy?).

Maybe Ishida will change sides and become a baddy for a bit (but ultimately come back I guess), didnt Kubo say we've had orihime and chad's (lolfullbringer?!) arcs, and the next is Ishida's in that recent interview thing?

Maybe it'll turn out to be some BS like they're doing it to lure the guys out of the royal realm so that they can reach the spirit king or something.

(Also, if it wasn't obvious enough the arc's called 'The final holy war', and the title page has a bunch of guys wearing white with high colours, quincy sure do love their crosses, too.)

It said "The Thousand Year Blood War" or something like that - which seems like it'd be a war the Shinigami have been fighting for a thousand years; which further seem to hint that it's Quincy's. I don't think it makes sense for the Shinigami to be at war with the Royal Realm, personally. We, however, know they've been at war with the Quincy's, and even went to the extent to exterminate them all 200 years ago.

Obviously, there's survivors. Otherwise we wouldn't have Ishida. Wouldn't surprise me if they've been in hiding for the past 200 years preparing payback. If Shinigami can merge with Hollow, I don't see why Quincy wouldn't be able to do the same thing.

This arc is definitely about the Soul King. Kubo said it himself in his interviews the last three weeks. I'm not big on the idea that of a Quincy threat because people like Yamamoto could solo all the remaining Quincies at the same time.

Yeah, even if the Quincy's are involved they're more than likely just a plot device for the true antagonist. No way they would pose a bigger threat than Aizen and the Espada's did.

The erasure of Hollows has Quincy written all over it, but there has to be more to it than that.

The remaining Quincy know full and well the consequences of erasing Hollows, or at least, Ishida did. Remember, while he condemned the Shinigami for what happened to his grandfather, he admitted that he agreed with the reasons for the Quincy extermination--their practices were dangerous. Whatever's going on, I don't Ishida is a part of it.

It's not a shock there are remaining Quincy, after all, Ishida , his father, and grandfather survived, the grandfather only dying to Shinigami neglect. There's nothing saying Quincy technology didn't survive the purge, which is what they use to augment their spiritual energy. If Ishida's family survived and the tech survived, it's no surprise there would be others.

The last time we saw Ishida's pop, he was conspiring with Isshin, which means that if Ishida's dad is in on whatever's going on, then Isshin has to know something about it, too. There are two scenarios that I see:

1) The Quincy are returning in full force, obliterating Hollows in an effort to draw out the Shinigami in a showdown (possibly sporting some ace up their sleeve), and Isshin and Ishida's dad have intel and are making their own moves to stop them

2) Isshin and Ishida's dad are amid the Quincy resurgence, obliterating Hollows and risking the fabric of reality itself, to pick a fight and draw out Division 0, for reasons concerning the Soul King.

It's possible the Qunicy (if that route is taken) is controlled by someone. It's also possible that the Quincy found a way to absorb the souls of the defeated Hollow, thus getting stronger.

Either way; it'll be interesting to see how it goes. My money's on the Quincy - at least originally. It'd seem strange to just introduce a new enemy out of nowhere that's seemingly stronger than Aizen. The Quincy makes a whole lot more sense. They - like Aizen - want to destroy Soul Society and the Spirit King.
