I was thinking about that...but usually when a zampaktou is materialized, doesn't the sword itself kinda disappear since it's in materialized form? That and the fact Yachiru has her own zampaktou (unless it's just for show) makes me question that theory...

I was thinking about that...but usually when a zampaktou is materialized, doesn't the sword itself kinda disappear since it's in materialized form? That and the fact Yachiru has her own zampaktou (unless it's just for show) makes me question that theory...

I was just joking around, but actually "no". Recall when Renji showed up at the training room to finish his bankai training, Zabimaru materialized, and Renji still had his sword in Trademark Cocky Swordsman Pose #407. Also, Zangetsu had a metric asston of swords to use during Ichigo's bankai training, so it would seem that if Yachiru somehow was Zaraki's sword, she could still have one of her own.

Thinking about it, doesn't Kenpachi find Yachiru alone in the wilderness, name her (as opposed to figuring out the name), and isn't she scary powerful judging from the times she lets her reiatsu flare?

Would kinda make sense that she's his swords manifestation and doesn't even realise it, and explain why his sword isn't actively trying to speak to him when Ichgo listens, and just hears the screams.

When did we see her reiatsu?

During the kenpachi/Ichigo fight, theres a messenger sent out to all the vice captains/captains and Yachiru gets annoyed by him for bugging her while she watches ken fight, so she shows her reiatsu for the first time.

Wikipedia describes it as a "giant pink angry cat face" or something, which sounds about right.

and it was big pink and scary enough that the messenger shat himself apparently.

As for disappearing when he gets knocked out, Zangetsu talks to Ichgo while he's out of it, who is to say that the swords manifestation has to disappear when you zonk out?

I do like the theory a lot too, would be a pretty cool twist.

Zangetsu talks to him in his own mind, he doesn't appear in the outside world. Ichigo needed the Urahara's cardboard-doll-looking thingy to manifest Zangetsu while he was training for Bankai, remember? It just seems like a sword spirit would disappear under the same conditions as a bankai, if the both require significant skill/power and energy expendature.

Well Kenpachi is always leaking his power, moreso than Ichigo. I wouldnt be surprised if his sword could manifest on its own really.

Yup, given the energy pouring out of him, and the sword probably having some urge to communicate, but possibly having forgotten itself as anything besides Yachiru, it would make sense that she wouldn't just pop out of existence when he gets knocked out. He's still pouring out energy, she still believes she should be there.

Plus, that's kind of a useful Shikai ability if you think about it, having a sword that will haul you off somewhere and let you recuperate if you get beat down.

Still all just theorycraft, but it does sort of make sense as to why Kenny hasn't had some insight about his swords name, he named it, and it's sitting there on his shoulder talking too him.

Ive thought that Yachiru was at least his zanpaktous name for awhile.. I just thought it was a stupid idea. glad to see somebody else think the same lol. tho in the flashback when he gave her the name, he said the name belonged to someone important to him. He's got a weird memory if he only forgot that it was his swords name, but remember the name itself.
also, Yachiru had parents. at least she said she did. and yorichi said kanpachi was weakening himself cause he didnt cooperate with his zanpaktou. zaraki and yachiru seem to et along too well

Because it's been stated that Kenpachi doesn't like to fight alongside other people as they might "Get in his way and force him to kill them too" or something. That's what I remember anyway. Yachiru knows not to get in Kenny's way because she likes watching him fight and what not.
