I love how Kubo always tries to make these completely shitty and unimportant characters/jobbers the most powerful/feared people just to give new enemies some credibility.

He did it with first with the Arrancar, then with Fraccion, then with Yammy (being zero Espada), then with Ginjo, then 1st Div VC (lol bankai), and now Halibel's Fraccion are suddenly the super three feared beasts of mega land even though they didn't do shit.

I hate to sound like a complainer, but I think my major issue with Kubo's storytelling is that he does it all through words and not action. I could have bought Sasikibe being powerful if they had shown the fight and not just him flying through the air impaled. I could have bought the Vizard being relevant if they hadn't been owned by Aizen in one hit. I could even have bought the whole Ginjo-is-awesome bit if Ichigo hadn't finished him in a single hit in one chapter. I just want Kubo to stop explaining his characters through the dialog and just letting them develop through the plot. Could you imagine if Kenpachi, for example, said "I didn't want to have to use this, but now you leave me no choice..." and we switch to another fight, only to come back and Yachiru is going "Wow Ken-chan you defeated him using Kendo that the old man taught you all those years ago!"? That would have killed the momentum entirely.

To be honest, it seems like they'll end up introducing his Bankai later by having the Quincy use the power against Shinigami. Then people will be like "wtf how did he get his ass kicked with that" and you realize that, really, it's going to be about that fucking power stealing move.

I think you're being too over critical, to be honest. I knew off top from the get go these three were gonna get pwned hard, and it would surprise me if anyone else didn't think so as well. I mean, they are facing a guy that has zero qualms with killing off his subordinates or any arrancar or hollow that defies him. The Sasikibe thing was an obvious BS retcon that Kubo wrote in, as everyone should remember him getting one shotted easily so many years ago... now he was supposed to be as strong as Ukitake and Kyōraku? Get that shit out of here. However it does serve to tell people these opponents are "captain class" or higher than that. Ginjo was never awesome since even in his true Shinigami Bankai form he was feeding off of Ichigo's energy.


As with any other thing in manga, you have to take into consideration that there was a year+ timeskip. Many things could have went down until Hueco Mundo got invaded. That includes Halibel's Fraccion training and becoming stronger.

I don't think he necessarily had to be stronger than they are it's just that he got his Bankai before they did. Said he didn't participate in battles, blah blah.. So he probably neglected his abilities while they surpassed him. But it's still BS recton.

- Had trouble locating Ichigo's crew
- Had difficulty fighting Ichigo's crew (Even Kenpachi)
- Did not succeed against Aizen
- Weren't able to go into Hueco Mundo and exterminate all the hollow (Though that could just be laziness/bad information)

How can they satisfy these criteria and have characters with amazing bankai when the bankai, though varied in application, is relatively the same throughout?
