I almost feel like Ken having a bankai would ruin is character. Either that or he would be so stupid OP that it wouldn't be fun due to everything being like this last fight.

Agreed. Kenpachi is all about imposing limits on himself to get the most out of his fights and his lack of Bankai is an extension of that trait. The sword is effectively mimicking its master, with its chipped and degraded blade and lack of Bankai/special attacks.

his sword rips instead of slices like teeth, i'd say that was more of a trait of ken's (been savage like a beast) then Eroded as a "limiting"

They've already mentioned that Ken and Ichigo are two sides of the same coin (only Ichigo has learned his sword's name). Imagine if Ken actually tried fighting opponent from the beginning and was in sync with his sword. Ken is just Ichigo with a desire to make fights last.

I think Ken should never learn bankai. Maybe at the end it should hint that he's learned his sword's name and is trying to learn bankai... or maybe it should be that he and his sword talk but he acts as if he doesn't need bankai. Who knows?

Oh, I'd be okay with it, too. There's been enough to put the idea in my head before. It's just up Kubo to decide one way or another if he's trolling us with it or not.

I'd be totally cool with it, but has anyone else been able to see Zanpakuto spirits when they materialized? Like when Ichigo could see Zangetsu, could everyone? This might be a stupid question because I'm really tired and can't remember at all.

Ichigo could see Zabimaru's spirit when Renji broke into his training area to finish learning his Bankai.

Have we seen any other spirits? I guess with the arc in the anime, but Zabimaru looked different.. so dunno how much faith I put in that..

Those are the only two spirits we've seen outside of the Muramasa arc. Given the concept of achieving bankai involves physically manifesting and subjugating the spirit, I'd want to say anyone spiritually aware could see it.

IIRC, Kubo was the person that designed all of the Zanpakutou spirits and allowed for their designs to be used in the anime.

technically there the same been,Stark was lonely (they forget there real name) and because he was so powerful just his pressence made weaker hollows die making him sad so he split himself so he could have a friend, i do like stark poor guys so lonely :/

I guess they can just explain the monkey Zabimaru as being in shikai form, since spirits change when the user gains bankai, which would make the chick/kid Zabimaru the bankai form

That explanation doesn't work because it doesn't take into account all of the vice captain and lower zanpakuto.

There was no retcon. The human Zabimaru came from an omake where Mayuri gave Renji's sword spirit a sex change.
