I wonder if the king is actually human. I don't see a human living for over a thousand years.

Guy looks like Zangetsu.
Obviously Kubo planned it.
Clearly not only is Ichigo part hollow shinigami and human but he's part quincy as well with Zangetsu being the manifestation of the family's patriarch passed down through the generations.
I'm hoping it's more than some lame hybrid. I'm tired of everything being hybrids in bleach.
I dunno, looks more like Guy Fawkes. Cause' you know Kubo likes de interwebz.
It's Gol D. Roger.
Dude died, you know.
Kubo: So in this scene, Ichigo unleashes his Bankai in order to defeat Byakuya!
Editor: That's it? That's your big plan? Fucking Bankai?!
Kubo: Well I was thinking about it and
Editor: AND WHAT KUBO?! AND WHAT?!
Kubo: Annnnddd... we find out Ichigo is part hollow too?
Editor: OMG YOU'RE FUCKING BRILLIANT AND INGENIOUS!
^ The story of why Kubo made everyone a Hybrid
It was mentioned a while back, I believe.
The sad thing is the Quincy are clearly being used at this point, and we may get some insight from Ryuuken and Ishida as to what is going on and why this Zangetsu knock-off (lol the last guy looked like Aizen) wants to "occupy" Soul Society.
Yea, that was the idea.
Boy I'm so glad Kubo plans this stuff years ahead!
Soul Society is pretty fucking dank, man. I figured the afterlife would be all happy for people, but shit, there's a good chance that if you were poor as a human, you could die and become poor for eternity in soul society. What a crock.
Whatever happened to the big ass walls and shield that was supposed to prevent people from invading Soul Society lol?
Those didn't protect the outer districts, and I think they hinted that somehow these guys had bypassed those anyway.
As for quality of afterlife, yeah, it's pretty shitty. In what's represented, it can't even begin to account for the whole of the world, either, which has led me to past amusement on different breeds of shinigami-like entities (think valkyries) out there in different cultures. I'm sure European ends could resemble oodles of serfs with a lone king at the top in similarity. Perhaps a current unknown is how long a given soul remains dead until it's reincarnated, as the reason Mayuri gave for killing the people was maintaining balance with the world of the living. So in theory, it would roughly translate to one person dying on Earth reincarnating another from SS. Yet, we have people who have been around for thousands of years, so there must be some criteria to this process like being killed as a spirit. At which point, lawless and criminal districts may almost be better for stability on the whole, morbid as it may be.
