He made 2 promises. One to always protect Rukia, and one to always uphold SS law. So when Ichigo kicked his ass that somehow made him realize which promise was more important. But yeah, the reason she got off was because Aizen was the one controlling the 46.

I thought it was a pre-existing law that the transfer of powers to a human was prohibited and punishable by death ? I vaguely recall Aizen only using his power to speed up the execution process. I'm sure Kubo himself probably didn't even think that far ahead and we're all just over-thinking everything.

We're not sure if that was a standing law or something he weaseled in. If the Ginjou/Fullbring stuff is any kind of vague indication, the law may've come about when he "defected" or whatever. At the very least, I'd say 10 years prior or more.

All i recall was that transferring your powers to a human was a serious crime. Death wasn't the only sentence for it I believe, as everyone seemed shocked as hell to know she was being killed, including Renji, who was more than eager to get her from the real world.

But my guess is, They pardoned her when they realized their entire law system was run by an evil jack-ass and everyone who should be in power had been dead for weeks.

Its all speculation at this point from me

Yeah they were basically given a full pardon. I think it was either Yama or Unohana who said something to the effect that soul society owes the ryoka everything since they basically saved everyone and brought to light Aizen's plans. I remember it was said on the soukyoku(sp?) hill while they were triage and healing everyone.

Ya, having a tough time remembering that one. It was either Unohana or the third seat in her squad (the guy with the blonde hair) It was when they were giving out healing assignments and the 4th members were told to heal Ichigo and his group.

Hopefully Ayon puts up a fight, Or it'll be a DBZ all over again. "Badass from previous Arc? 1 shotted by new guy!"... I mean, It took C.Commander Yamamoto to take out Ayon last time.

At least it cleared up some question from the last one.

Given the massive amount of power Ayon has (comparing him to Yama is useless since old men in Eastern culture are always the strongest things in existence) compared to the fairly high-level shinigami he bitched before, this should be a fun fight.

I feel a bit cheated this week, I wanted to see Ichigo getsuga'ing shit. We don't even really know if Ichigo's "new" fullbring flavour has actually made him any stronger. Also, I'll cry if we never see Shirosaki come out to fuck shit up again

The last time we saw them, Shirosaki and Zangetsu revealed that they were basically the same thing, so I doubt we'd see much of a struggle anymore. I just like seeing Ichigo turn hollow and then go curb stomping whenever things go south. That and Kenpachi are my favourite Bleach moments. I agree though, the new zanpaktou needs some screentime. Kubo did an awful (read: non-existant) job showcasing the "new" Ichigo against Ginjo. Because of that I'm led to believe the new zanpaktou doesn't do anything the old one didn't do.

To be fair he didn't exactly have alot of time to find out if he had new powers. I get the feeling the Shinigami discover their powers via actually asking the sword what they can do.
