Not quite as simple as that.

They judged their foes to be too powerful for Shikai to handle them, So they knew they would need to use Bankai. They already know they could Seal Bankai, So they used it with the Vice Captains close, So perhaps they could discern how its being sealed, and Break the seal. They knew they were going to get sealed anyway, so they did what they felt would be the best course of action, Use it with your VC at your back and hope you can discern how to break the seal.

But turns out its an Absorb/Stealing, not a Seal... So they kinda got fucked.

Use 4 captain's bankai right off the bat. . . Use remaining captain's bankai to wipe the floor with the rest of them after figuring this ability. Ichigo simply overpowered the first guys ability not breaking the seal. If it shows anything of slight importance, Byakuya used his right off the bat and was able to hurt them w/o effort. It shows, to me at least, that they aren't as strong as they are made to be. Interwebs overhyping again. Another week of these 8 getting wrecked with 1-2 pages switching back to Ichigo next week.

I dont think Ichigo Overpowered it, I think his is ... "Different", What with him having the whole ... Hollow/Fullbring side inside of him now, His Bankai might not be stealable like the Shinigami. my guestimate, Then again, It could have said somewhere he overpowered it, And i just missed it :D

It'll be very silly if the 4 vicecaps bankai and hold their ground even for a bit. Sure this scenario is perfect for kenpachi to shine; filler chap but at least more fodder died.

I saw a funny theory about how they just stole a bunch of bankai that are hard to control and have huge weaknesses so it's going to backfire on the quincy. One quincy accidentally freezes himself solid, another shoots herself into a wall because soi fon had to have an anchor to not get blown back when using it, the giant kaiju bankai means the quincy using that can get hurt by hitting the bankai. Etc etc.
