I agree. We need the speculation and discussion to make the thread grow. I hardly watch the anime anymore, but I've kept track of the manga. It's the same with Naruto. The animes have both been rather bland as of late, but at least the manga have been good.

I really wish Bleach would define everyone's "power level", and explain how they get stronger every fight. It really doesnt make sense in many instance when you compare their strength between 2 fight, than compare it to someone else who havent fought or trained. I can accept a victory like Rukia's against a stronger opponant when it involve luck and all, but trying to understand kenpachi/ichigo/grimmjaw/mayuri is just good for headache.

for the most part, i think bleach is fine w/o "power level" imo. At captain level, wins are mostly determined by zanpaktou's abilities, so there isnt any "A can beat B, C can beat A, so C can beat B by default". the only time it bothers me is with Ichigo and his Plotkai. I mean, i know the main character's gotta live, but what Ichigo's been doing bugs me.
I would like to know how strong Ishida actually was when he removed that bracelet during the mayuri fight tho.

Ichigo own Zaraki without bankai, then get owned 2 months later by Noitora (one could argue Ichigo was tired/wounded, but still). Considering how powerful Ichigo is now, how did Zaraki get so strong not doing anything?
Take someone else like Grimmjaw who was owning Ichigo 1 month before with his overpowered Riatsu. Why didnt he train like other people? They said captain reached their limit in Soul society arc, but clearly, they all got stronger since then.

I could go on like this for a while. It's just feel like their power is all over the place. I dont really mind, but that's why I was asking for a "power level"

the answer to all questions concerning Ichigo is Plotkai.

Ichigo didnt "own" Zaraki during the fight. they both collapsed at the end. Ichigo would have died from injuries, zaraki may have also who knows. Zaraki also spent most of the fight getting himself cut up so he could "prolong the fun". As for the Nnoitora fight, he's gotten hit twice Nnoitora. 1stbeing after Kenpachi stabbed him thru his head, the second was after he grew his 5th and 6th arm. we know ken can take alot of damage, so wouldnt call him "owned" by Niotora either. aaaand theres the fact he may know his Znpaktou's name now. which would make him stronger.Yorichi stated that since him and his zanpaktou werent working together it was weakening him.

Aizen has been the only person to say anything about reaching his limits. he said there was a limit to how strong a shinigami could be, but didnt say any of the other captains reached that point yet.

Ikaku(balddude) could have had Bankai for quite some time now. even before SS arc. He doesnt want anybody to know he has Bankai. He could even possibly be strong enough to take one of the newly opened captain spots. but he wont cause he wants to serve under Kenpachi.

I just want to see Urahara show up and represent. It was already implied that he's significantly stronger than Hitsugaya. I have a suspicion that he's at or above the level of Ulquiorra if he gets serious, and probably stronger than the captains, other than Yamamoto and Aizen. The same goes for Yoruichi, considering she beat Soifon without using her sword.

Aizen said there are four areas of shinigami combat, in which he hit his limit in all four: zanjutsu, kido, agility (ie shunpo) and hand-to-hand. Mastery of Bankai is (presumably) the limit of zanjutsu.

And even if you technically hit the limits of all four fields, there's still raw spirit energy to factor in (which is why Kenpachi doesn't need to know his zanpakuto's name to kick ass).

like i saidin last post, he wasnt holding back. not even saying he had bankai then.but if he did, he wouldnt have used it cause he doesnt want anyone to know he has it. and his opponent was ichigo, so he had the plot on his side.

this one had nothing to do with holding back. Mayuri got his ass handed to him. but Ishida used a one time only power boost that after he used it, would take away his ability to use spirit energy. How much it increased his power we dont know. not to mention he could take spirit energy from everything in SS, so he had an infinite amount of spirit energy at his disposal

I don't think he was all that strong. He won purely due to the element of surprise, and could barely stand up after he shooped his whoop. Mayuri could have easily killed him afterwards just by walking over there and poking him, but plot dictated that he should run away instead.

Yeah, but after seeing his last fight, its hardly believable he would lose because someone took him by surprise, especially since Ishida couldnt do a single thing.

It's been a while so correct me if I'm wrong. Ishida's arrow destroyed his Bankai baby thing and blew a hole through Mayuri. Afterward, Mayuri's vice captain thanked Ishida for not taking the headshot suggesting Ishida could have completely defeated Mayuri right then.

true he was surprised in the way that he said he never saw the transformation before, but he couldnt have done anything different in the fight to win, aside from knowing way before so he could find a way to counter. It went like this.. (just reread the chapter) ishida shot 1arrow,mayuri dodged it. ishida then appeared above him and shot another arrow which took off Mayuri's arm. Mayuri Bankai's andhas it attack. Ishida shoots 1 last arrow that slices his Bankai in 1/2 and makes a big hole in Mayuri.
of course, you can also argue that if Grantz didnt have all his reserch and data, renji probably could have killed him, ishida could have killed him, and dondo/peche's cero would have killed him.

Mayuri ran cause if he didn't he would have died. Ishida had plenty of time to finish him off before he burned out.

He said that he had reached the limit in all 4 forms as a shinigami. "Captain" "vice-captain" are just names they give themselves. Look at all the different captains and you should know some are stronger than others. You dont even need to master all4 to become a captain.
I'm sure most of the current captains can improve themselves.

Ok Captain Level may be considered the limit but that's a far cry from saying all Captain's are at the limit. That's just stupid to say someone like Hitsugaya is on the same level as Gin or Yamamoto was. Obviously there are discrepancies in skill level in the 4 fields even among captains. It's simply saying that Captains are the highest of the high in Soul Society.
