These Quincy's are part hollow? I thought that one random arrancar guy at the beginning was just a regular arrancar who was given a Quincy cross and medallion in order to try and absorb Ichigo's bankai. That's the way I took it at least with the way Juha Bach made it seem like they were easily disposable "cue Tia Harribel captured" shot.
I meant having an edge over the Vaizards. Since they purify Hollow and all.
Oh gotcha! Misunderstood.
Quincy don't purify Hollows, they just outright kill them and destroy whatever spirit energy they were composed of. Hence the whole war thing about thing throwing off the balance between planes. Purification is what the shinigami were after between Konso on Wholes who hadn't crossed over yet and the general assumption the blades do the rest on Hollows, the more extreme ones getting pulled to Hell.
Anyway, I'm indifferent to the Old Man fight and feel like it's been dragging too long now. If the true baddie hops out to gank him next week, I hope it's quick and we're back to Ichigo. Touching more on his own skills being undeveloped shouldn't be too shocking. He's got the raw energy and instincts for battle down, but him buddy with Zangetsu still doesn't mean he knows how to use it to its fullest potential. Basically, we've got some gaps between his bankai and SSJ form that can be fleshed out. And assuming Kubo remembers speed was supposed to be his schtick, abilities based around that could be cool. Maybe a better explanation to his outfit changing, too, as all we know is it reflects his current energy level.
true bad guy is going to be uryuu's dad
Well he does own a pentacle but it wouldn't make sense given he is friends with Isshin.
Uryuu's family (and assumedly the Quincy that Soken was associated with) are supposed to be heretics according to the Vandenreich.
Or the Vandenreich are the radicals. Regardless, it's heavily implied that Uryuu and his dad have an insane amount of potential, supposedly exceeding any of the Reich.
I went over earlier in this thread (a few months ago) about how Kubo seems to have gone out of his way in earlier arcs that the title "Last Quincy" means more than just a name.
There's apparently some kind of transference of powers going on with it, since it was a title/prowess held by Soken, who later gave it to Ryuken, then told Uryuu he had it, only to have that be refuted by Ryuken later.
It's all up in the air in this point. Convoluted and vague.
Ryuken as the last boss? No sign of the guy despite Aizen stomping and he has a damn good reason to retaliate since the Shinigami destroyed Soken who had a plan for Shinigami-Quincy coexistence.
The Vandenreich captain said "Same as Uryuu Ishida? Don't fuck with me, I couldn't even hold a candle compared to the powers of Uryuu Ishida!!!" or something like that before he died. So not only do they know of them, they seem to really fear them.
And since Uryuu refused to go to help Ichigo, he seem to be aware of them, too.
Uryuu didn't refuse to help Ichigo. We just haven't seen him.
Nah, he straight up said he wasn't going to go to Hueco Mundo with them.
Well then. Uryuu's a dick.
If they have to understand the Bankai to steal it, how the hell did they steal the 1st Division VC's Bankai if he never ever used it?
Maybe they've been planning this for the whole thousand years and observed him when he was trying to beat Yamamoto back in the day with it?
Possibly studied their bankai in the shadows during the past arcs.
Or maybe it's only necessary to understand the full extent of someone's bankai. If they know its limits, they can steal it. If they don't, they can't.

^Refusing to help.
Thanks for that.
I saw it as a more powerful version of east. The sword doesn't have to actually touch the target to burn it to nothing. He was standing at distance from that guy when he used it. It probably generates a incredibly hot flame/energy in whatever direction he swings in front of him. Still I was hoping for something a little better. Phoenix, big explosion, etc.
