Yup, nigga got sliced in half, then his only hand got sliced off, then everything remaining of him got erased from existence by a pissed off Quincy with arrowsplosions. Again, not the same shit lol.

Kuro doesn't agree but like I said, I think Kubo did a fine job with Yama's death. The one-shot kill? Yeah it was bullshit, yeah it could've been explained he was exhausted after using his bankai, and yeah Kubo could've drawn it out longer, point Kubo made though was that Yama went mad soft. The flashback with Shunsei asking about the fire monster supports this. Seriously, I think the last few chapters of Bleach have been incredibly epic surpassing the initial Soul Society arc.

There's no such thing as vital organs when you're made of soul (though I dont think Kubo is smart enough to plotjutsu his way out with this), there's however the whole nuke thing.

So, assuming he's really dead, and unohana/orihime don't hax-revive him, who would lead SS? His lieutenant is toast. Unless it ends up Ichigo takes over, as he's probably going to be considered the strongest shinigami by the time this is all over with.

Yeah, thinking it from the concept they're dead, thus not living, thus not having a physical body and all the jazz can lead to that assumption, but then why bleed, why breathe, why eat, why sleep? I don't think it's the Bleach equivalent of GitS' "phantom limb syndrome" speaking. They're just different types of bodies.

They eat to increase reiatsu or something, there's an explanation to the eating among 2 or 3 chapters. The bleeding can be explained because "it looks cooler than no bleeding" I don't disagree with you though, just saying you can explain Yama alive that way.

Remember that Uloquiorra (SP) said that he could high-speed regen, but Ichigo had taken his vital organs, so there ya go.

I see recent events as acts of desperation: Kubo's attempts to attract a new animation studio through brash character action.

I love that something is finally happening again, and that we've already seen two new bankai with more basically assured (archery people've gotta steal somethin). I suspect Shunsui or Shinji next. Kisuke, Ukitake, Retsu, even Yioroichi, Rukia or Isshin are candidates.

Squad 0 will of course come into immediate play, but the strength of the Magic Corps is in equal question, especially without Tessai or Hachi at the helm. That lingering, unknown 4th of the 5 Stealth Corps divisions also remains unaccounted for. Perhaps we will even see the Spirit King, if it isn't already Kanoji like we jokingly expect.

Byakuya, Genryusai and his lieutenant are assuredly dead; this will stupidly posit Renji as the successor to the squad 6 captain seat. I don't think Kubo would kill Ken without letting him go more berserk/speaking to his sword. Retsu could lead SS, but Kisuke is most likely.

All complete, utter speculation. At least it's somewhat entertaining again, which was the impetus for the anime cancellation; in that respect, I sympathize with you, Hiro.

I'd lean toward the anime getting canceled/suspended because it literally caught up to the manga again. While they could've done an okay filler arc with Ichigo and his restored powers, I feel they're literally a bit thin on ideas to expand with given how little ahead the manga was. Really, we don't know the full extent of Ichigo's return, let alone what the 18 months really did for everyone else aside from some getting cheesed by bankai theft.

I won't stretch it that far but I will agree Kubo has finally returned to what made Bleach good during the first arc. Hopefully he keeps up with the epic and doesn't screw up the zero squad.

Also, I love that Yama was killed (it's quite obvious he's dead) I just don't like the way it was handled. Maybe because it was so sudden and then the next chapter he slides apart. That's the type of event that is better saved to happen during a chapter, not the end.

There are also much more brutal strikes that have happened and a character was fine. So why should the strongest person in the series be suddenly killed in one hit by the most common strike in the manga? It seems like he's rushing.

Again:
1. We don't know what the Bankai does with regards to fatigue
2. One of, if not the most, powerful bad guy; we really don't know how powerful he is
3. He stole the Bankai, so we can plausibly reduce the fight to that of a civilian v Bankai-ed Quincy
4. The cut is similar to the one seen by the move "North", so that could just be the effect of the move

There's lots of room to maneuver here.

edit: Re-reading the chapter it's hard to say whether he used Yama's bankai on him or not. He has this Quincy-like sword that he used to slash him at the end that looked more like a broadsword.
