I didn't think it was a terrible chapter.
I enjoyed watching Nnoitra getting double owned, first by Nell in the flashback and second by Kenpachi.

This is probably the first time I've liked the flashback part of something more than the non-flasback part.
hmm...wonder what's gonna happen next chapter? Maybe they'll just retreat back to soul society.
Isn't Halibel still on top of that building where she watched the whole Ichigo/Grimmy/Nnoitra/Nel/Kenpachi battle? And Ulquiorra should be breaking out of his stasis thingy sometime, so there's still a little more that could be squeezed out of this arc, but that's about it. Anyone can tell that only Ichigo is allowed to beat Aizen, and he's at least like a year worth of "I'mm'a trainin' mah hollow mask" Vaizard arcs away from being ready for it. They might still have a Byakuya/Mayuri/Kenpachi vs. Aizen/Tousen/Gin/Stark/Halibel staring contest where everyone just decides to walk away for some reason, and whatever happens, you can tell Aizen's gonna be all![]()
last page of the chapter says "A new threat appears before Ichigo and the others"
probably Ulqiorra, but who knows.
While is does say that, Ulqiorra is not a "new threat" by any means, and he wouldn't be "appearing" so much as he'd be returning, but i guess you can take the appearing with a grain of salt and go either way. I think they would entitle the chapter or foreshadow with re-appear or returns rather than appear.Originally Posted by Souj
Halbiel and others have been watching from a distance since Grim and Ichigo fought. If you remember back, they flashed over to them for a page and one wanted to jump in, before the espada commanded them not to. One of the watchers has to be the new threat appearing, it's a new threat, and they haven't even made contact with them yet, so they would just randomly appear.
Or maybe the nameless guy finally wakes up and tells everyone to get off his lawn.
ohhhh heres something to make you think about...
It specifically says "A new Threat appears before Ichigo"
well, Why is it appearing before Ichigo and not maybeeee a captain? Maybe, Nell returns to her espada form, but, is pissed or upset or lost her mind because of seeing Noitora's death. Then she tries to take her Vengence out on Ichigo for letting it happen to him... It's not a "stronger" threat per-say, but it would be a "new threat" considering she was helpful before. Elohel still want it to be someone from the distance that was watching though. Or Gin, that would be cool.
I liked the flashback, but I still think that was a pretty weak ending for Nnoitra.
Thing is, the only "new" characters that could appear at this point would be Stark, Halibel, nameless guy or something completely random that Aizen created or whatever. edit: as I expected, being able to read Japanese would be very helpful at a time like this.
It was a weak ending in that he didn't get any good lines, but it did flesh out his character pretty well. Even if that character is just "KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL become stronger KILL KILL KILL KILL rule the universe KILL!!!!"
No, you are looking at a fan translation. I'm not. I read new threat.Originally Posted by Charla
I think that Nel is the next threat, somewhat.
It should of just been Kenpachi killign Nnoitara and then that was it. But it showed that Nel wanted to save the Espade even if she did despise them. Maybe now that she wakes up and sees one of her old comrades dieing, something will awaken in her and she goes against Ichigo who she just saved?
And possibly the Pesche and Dontchaknow guy?
Cool someone agrees. They kinda foreshadowed it I agree. They showed her waking up and saying "noitora" and showed her wanting to protect fellow espada -unlike- noitora... plus, it showed them being around each other alot, even if he was just following her. It would definitely count as a new threat and a threat at that even if she is weaker than noitora now.Originally Posted by Serif
Umm....doesn't Nel in her kid form not remember anything about her past. So when she wakes up, how is she going to get angry if she can't remember who it is that's laying dead in front of her.
wasn't she also just cracked in her head again by noitora? She lost her memory because of being cracked in the head, not because shes a kid. And now she is hit in the head again, and waking up she says his name...
They could easily pull that card and extend this fucking arc even longer... They need to just move it along damnit.
I would bet that even in her child form now, Nel has recovered most if not all of her memories.
The only problem I have with the theory of Nel being the new threat, is that wasn't she just fighting noitora in her released form trying to kill him not too long ago? I'm pretty sure she had all her memories then...
She wouldn't finish him off though...
Maybe...and I could understand going after Kenpachi possibly, but this "new threat" is against Ichigo, and after everything, I just can't see her being a threat to him...I mean, who can forget:

My money is on Ulquiorra coming back and just telling them all to gtfo.
No way will Nel turn on Ichigo and Co. that'd just be stretching for a plot twist...
I thought she was like "it's over bastard, you die now" but popped back to childform before she could finish him. And she was fighting him for Ichigo's sake, so I just don't see how she would blame him for not stopping Ken of all things. It also helps that I think her character is too interesting and useful for Kubo to just pull a "lol she's evil again". Of course, he could bring out a couple other stale plot devices like split personalities or "Aizen implanted them all with mind control devices just in case".
edit: Nuriko's picture is worth all of my words
