Even if she was super skilled, remember that (at the time) Grand Fisher was a high level Hollow who had evaded attacks for a long time, etc. What Arus said is very possible -- Ichigo wakes up, his mom's dead, that's all we know, not how she died.

He's half everything, but that's not as farfetched or insane as it seems.

He's a human/shinigami hybrid. Period.

Being a human, he is capable of wielding Quincy powers. As a result of his Hollow side, he also is capable of wielding Fullbring powers.

As a shinigami, his hollow side classifies him as a visored.

Ya, I kinda see it as the same situation Ullquiora mentioned to Urahara and Yoroichi...Couldn't fight to the fullest because she was protecting something (Ichigo in both cases....dude needs to learn how to rumble instead of being a badass for 5 min and a pussy the rest of the time lol)

The Fullbring is stated to be from those whose survived hollow attacks while in their mother's stomach. If Ichigo's mom was a Quincy then it's not hard for that to have happened, but yea, the Fullbring is really less to do about his Hollow side and more about how birth, which is still somewhat a mystery. They need objects they are attached to in order to draw out the powers and until the badge Ichigo never really carried around anything sentimental. His hollow is from Urahara's training, he used the Hollowfication process as a means to get him his powers back.

Well for sure I'm glad he's at least making an effort to tie up stuff and the action has been pretty top notch. Bleach has actually gotten significantly more entertaining since the end of the fullbringer arc.

Uh, yea. He cut his soul chain, which forced Ichigo to start turning into a hollow. That's exactly what happened.

One thing you guys are neglecting is that Ichigo also has Uzumaki blood in him. That is the most factual at best explanation for his high cha... reiatsu levels.
