He was smiling way too much when he seen the Quincy leader. IMO, Aizen is behind it as well. If he isn't, he will be back in play before its all said and done. He is the main villian of the series.

I honestly don't think Aizen is just the main bad guy and that's it. The dude is fucked up for sure, but theres gotta be some reason he is so disgusted by the spirit king.

I was more referring to how the specific artistic depiction should be extremely reminiscent to posters here especially with the choice to have something like a telepad to launch you between the islands.

I've been curious about this ever since Aizen asked Urahara how could he allow that "thing" to continue and Urahara seemed to completely understand Aizen's motive's for everything after that comment. Which leads into another question of when exactly was it Aizen and Urahara were able to see the spirit king.

I thought FFXI always had it wrong anyway??? The five compass points are Seiryu east, Suzaku south, Byakko west, Genbu north, and Ouryu center, not whatever the fuck Kirin.

Also, regardless now how "neat" it would be, I feel Aizen is no longer in play. Don't feel that he will be pulling any more strings unless he's released from jail. It was just mentioned the quincy are a greater threat than Aizen anyway.

Mangahere seemed to suggest Quincy are more evil rather than powerful. Not really seeing how you get beyond controlling someone's senses.

Yea, that's more from the whole mythology perspective. It's a little funny that Japan is so integrated with its mythology when it comes to pop culture that it pretty much becomes the backstory/symbol of every manga/game/anime.

They're heavenly beasts representing the four cardinal directions of a Chinese constellation, with the fifth representing the middle. A belief popular throughout east Asia. A sky palace with this in mind is hardly original to begin with, so its reasonable there's going to be similarities whenever games/animes/mangas use the mythology.

Um, so you actually believe he passed up the opportunity to be released from eternal prison and chose to stay jailed without a plan or reason?

Aizen knew the Quincey crew existed all the time, especially if he knew/met all about the Spirit King.

Meh. I doubt as well Aizen has anything going on right now. The little bit about him messing with Juha Bach's timing I took as fanservice. He's still bound to whatever it is that's binding him. Will he come up in the future? More then likely, but I think Kubo genuinely has had enough of his "just as planned" fill with him for now.

Yeah, he isn't behind this attack or anything. And he won't be the big bad, but he's definitely got some more shit going on eventually.
