No, what I was referring to was that it was never stated that Captain Happypants couldn't hit Renji hard because he had broken part of his hand. What he actually said was that both Renji and Ichigo impressed him, but moreso Ichigo than Renji.

Never once in this chapter did it go "Man, that Renji is lucky Ichigo broke my hand with those lightning-fast reflexes".

This is Kubo we're talking about. He would have made it a point if it were true.

I thought he did make a point of it after Renji said "How is it that I wasn't sent flying away?". The next panel is his quivering hand and the one after that is him looking down at it. One panel is the question, the next is the answer.
Not that it really matters, I also understand what you're saying.

Either case could be made, because when he punches Renji its a panel of him being shocked. The shock could be "oh shit, my hands broken, wtf?" or it could be "oh shit, this dbag took my punch, wtf?"

I would assume Renji gets stuck at one of these 4 other places while Ichigo goes on. We move farther in the story and the main fight starts. Some one is about to die and then Renji makes a DYNAMIC ENTRY and is like I finally finished it blah blah blah.
