Gat damn double.
Is that from the chapter? The translation says healing. What is the difference?
So again, she was stronger than Aizen the whole time, apparently, as she's still bragging that she was the strongest aside from Ken-chan. Perhaps she couldn't fight Aizen due to his shikai....
That's the only thing that keeps me from slamming my head on this desk screaming "ITS A KID'S PICTURE BOOK! DON'T LOOK TOO DEEPLY INTO IT!"
No, I mean she wasn't healing Ichigo at that time. She was trying to "top him off". I'm pretty sure in Kenny's case she needs to pull the same magic shit that she did to heal Hitsugaya and Renji.
I don't think niggas is absorbing the moment of Kenpachi right now.
That nigga constantly consciously limits his power while he unconsciously limits his true power. Never heard of this shit in any anime before.
Kenpachi too stronk man.
Too stronk.
The whole point of SS needing Ichigo to beat Aizen was because of his absolute hypnosis... there is no "perhaps she couldn't beat Aizen because of his shikai", because that IS the reason she or anyone else in SS couldn't beat him and is the given reason that they couldn't and had been mentioned several times in the past.
They weren't even taking his Ascension shit into consideration because it was an unknown quantity and no one knew about it. If they did, I'm willing to bet they would have done a little less relying on Ichigo.

Best way to explain it.
Thought this chapter was boring personally but there's nothing wrong with some character development. I just don't particularly care for Kenpachi as a character even if he is ridiculously strong.
Yeah, I'd like to go back to Ichigo just because Kenpachi going Hulk Smash is boring if there's no tactical premise to it. There's not really a sense of him analyzing Unohana here, and eventually it'll hit a point where his power is going up while hers is diminishing between a mix of fighting and healing. So, even when he does finally win, realistically, neither are likely to be at their peak.
Was I the only one who expected Unohana's "sin" to be much more climactic? Her losing to Kenpachi giving him the ultimate guilt trip early in his youth was pretty meh. Hopefully we get a significant reason why she went the way of healing.
This absolutely puts a damper on the whole "HOLY SHIT SHE'S A PSYCHO-BITCH MURDERING BADASS!" vibe people were having, that's for sure.
She's more worried about stunting a boy's growth potential than she is about her bloody past. I have a feeling she probably didn't have many reservations about learning the healing ways.
I agree with this. How can almost killing and healing him over and over do any good anyway? He doesn't even know what's going on so how can he learn he's been holding himself back? You could.. Oh I don't know..
TELL HIM! And then teach him better technique than just using brute force all the time.
They straight up said he was subconsciously doing it, telling him wouldn't make a difference. Muscle memory is a bitch, Unohana is basically forcing his body to forget about holding back.
it was his fear of never finding a worthy opponent again that made him start to subconsciously gimp himself, not to mention the conscious efforts to do the same (bells in hair, eye patch). He came into the fight knowing she was fucking powerful which is why he took all that shit out from the get go, but since he's been gimping himself for so long, he had no idea how much he's gimped himself since then. This is why he got such a rush out of fighting ichigo, then again at noitra, and so on, so forth. He's been looking for a fight where he could nearly lose, and everytime he was retardedly injured, he'd release some of the "shackles" they mention, to make sure he was never full-on blown out; to make sure it was a good fight, but he still won. Now she's fucking his ass up and healing him so he'd realized he just missed something she did, and try more, and more, to ensure that the fight was somewhat winnable, which is why he's getting stronger and stronger.
Telling him that he's been gimping himself won't mean shit if he doesn't know he's doing it; he still thinks he's strong as fuck, and it wasn't until she ganked his ass in the throat that he realized he's become weaker.
