I thought at was pretty obvious, what with Kenpachi saying "it melts", and then showing the skeleton of them both.

Which, I'm guessing, is why she had to learn healing, to counter the effect of it.

Unohana used her bankai which sent out an acid bath on both of them, but she healed him and her at the same time. Giving him that boost he needed to finally kill her.

Did anyone notice her bankai and shikai have the exact same name. As far as her being dead, she's obviously choosing to die because there's no way she can heal herself after turning into a skeleton and not be able to heal a sword wound. Unless, maybe he stabbed her through the heart.

so if she is able to bring back kenpachi from near death so many times, even to the point where he's a skeleton, how did it take so long for Rangiku, Hyori, and Hinamori to be healed? and why is it exactly she couldn't heal renji and byakuya.
