Come someone tell me what exactly is happening in the last panel before the final page?
Looks like one of those timestop/heartbeat/thump things with change of colors that indicate the character sensed something etc.
(or are you talking about the girl talk, lol)
She either sensed Urahara wasn't human before bumping into him (alive, at least) or noticed when she did. Judging by his expression, he probably noticed she noticed something off about him, too.
Normal people can't usually see Urahara right? I remember at the beginning of the series him and his "shop" were invisible to non-spirit sensing people or something. So maybe just the fact that she could see and interact with him made Urahara go "wait...what?"
i think he sensed something was up with the bite she got on teh shoulder. remember, it was supposed to turn isshin to a hollow, but it *chose* her instead... maybe that's what he's sensing.
Also whats the deal about, the hollow choosing her over isshin, did it infect her in some way when it bit her? NVM beat ^
He impregnated her with Ichigo!
And this would have worked, had Toriyama been allowed to end the series when he wanted to; with Gohan being the only SSJ2, and being the protector of the earth while Goku got to ham it up in the afterlife, fighting all sorts of legendary badasses.
Alas, the fat fanboys of Japan would not let it be, and forced Toriyama not only to continue the series, but to have Goku be the big hero again, and again, and again...
...and again.
On topic: I'm enjoying Aizen's laissez faire attitude in terms of all of this; he's more than willing to let things play out off the beaten path. I suppose a man with such massive power and intellect - to the point where everyone else is boring - finds this sort of off-beat occurrence absolutely stimulating. Also nice of him to swipe all of Urahara's goodies after ganking his ass.
Targeted hollowfication...I'm guessing it was supposed to infect someone upon death but instead it exploded.
Maybe it was the translation, but I just interpreted it as the mix of energies hollow/shinigami/quincy going all volatile and kablooey.
I didn't think much of Urahara sensing a residual effect on her, though.
I don't expect Kubo to suddendly explain in 1 chapter what he draws in 5, but it is annoying.
Wow, thanks for that. I have been trying to figure it out for a while now.
So...while Urahara is walking around in spirit form he just walks through teenage girls for kicks?
I'm not sure what he means by "if he exploded that means he reached his final form of evolution" (not a direct quote).. Were they implying the hollow was continuing to evolve/change as he infected/hollowfied new shinagami? Or do you think it was more of a "take over" thing, where that hollow would inhabit the body of a shinagami it defeated?
Like, I just don't get why it exploded..
And who do you think the dead shinagami was that the hollow was created from (Mr. White)?

This translation makes it sound more like it intentionally self destructed thus maybe making it more aware of what it was/what it was doing and knew that it couldn't be simply defeated and have its body captured for inspection.
Mangastream version is out.
Other sites and this forum have suspected Kaien as the shinigami and that makes sense (Rains whenever this enemy appears and the shikai was SUITEN sakamake). This would explain the close resemblance etc.
Edit: Since the original project was to create hybrids, perhaps this was the first successful VL? That would explain the situation well.
Both kaien's body and the hollow that took control of him were absorbed into that espada thou. How would he be inside ichigo at the same time, as a different hollow?
