Totally missed the souls of humans line.
Totally missed the souls of humans line.
Even more interesting: Urahara told them to let Ichigo resist when he was hollowfying because he knew that the Quincy blood would resist distorting the soul while the Shinigami blood would resist the hollow. Ichigo's total ignorance as to his lineage is why he couldn't control any of it. His Quincy blood explains his stability as a soul while his Shiba lineage explains his absurd level of power.
the Core (can't remember its name despite been the main focus point for 200+ chapters) presumably was made by both Aizen and Urahara around the 110-100 years point mark in the Turn back the pendulum arc (leaning towards the later end) so i don't think Uruhara was really messing with Hollowfication as early as 120 years before the main story (even tho Aizen might have been 140+ years before)
Another interesting tidbit:
Aizen predicted that Urahara would send Ichigo and co. to see Kuukaku and Ganju because of the flower crane cannon. Since Aizen knows that Ichigo is a Shiba and that Isshin is Kuukaku's uncle, it makes sense that Urahara would send them to a "friendly" place.
The shinigami exiled Isshin, allowed Kaien to die, and allowed the disappearance/death of their father. I'm pretty sure if there's anywhere that's friendly to Urahara, Yoruichi, Isshin, and Ichigo, it would be family.
So does this explain why his Zanpactu can't be detected...? Or what this means for his evolution in power/repair of his sword?
I mean, this seems like info we already really kinda knew (except instead of his inner hollow being part of his hollowfication process... it's somehow from his mother instead? Unless he has two hollow entities... One from his hollowfication process with Urahara, and one from his inner soul/mother... ).
Is it ever outright stated that he even used it?
He knows about it, but did he ever say he used it? He may just be aware of it from Engetsu.
We know now that he never used FGT, since it was his being with Masaki that got rid of his powers. But unlike Ichigo's dumb ass, Isshin was a legit shinigami from the start, so of course, he was taught it by Engetsu.
He seems to be the capable captain that even Aizen acknowledged him. He's probably undergone the training already as well as many other things. Just because he doesn't use it though doesn't mean he isn't capable of using it.
I suppose he hasn't explicitly said so.
Bah... I had really high hopes for Isshin's bankai and Final Getsuga, just another one we dont get to see for now.
What, like this was the last chapter or something?
He has his powers back. He can use it.

It just simply wasn't made from an asauchi. He made it himself.I was under the impression that Ichigo's Zanpakuto can't be detected because it didn't start out as an Asauchi and mature over time; he just created that shit from his reiatsu.
What we've learned is that he (most likely) always had a bit of hollow inside him. I assume because of his strong human soul that balanced out his soul he was able to keep it in check. But when his human soul was thrown into disarray the boundries in his soul started to blur and he started the process of hollowfication. Unlike normal human->hollow transformations he was transforming the same way the vizards(shinigami) were, mask first.
I'm trying to tie everything together again, but it feels like I'm still missing one important piece of information before I can do it.
I guess that's my problem too. I mean, this is all interesting, but does it really change anything? Cool, we knew that Ichigo was part Shinagama, part human, and part hollow. We suspected for a long time he was part quincy, and had that confirmed.
So... Only real different thing we know (from his time with the Zero squad) is his Zanpactu is self-made/different.
So what does all that mean for his progression? We've really been given nothing new. He has the ability to fix his own blade? He's going to realize his full Quincy or full QuincHollowShinaHuman potential?
Hurry the hell up and tell us so we can get back to KENNY.
Helps explain why his Hollow form was, for lack of a better word, stable. But yeah, doesn't really add much yet, but could in the next few issues. If the flashback ends here, then meh, but if it continues it could explain a bit of how Ichigo ended up with his Hollow powers. It seems that Masaki passed on the Hollow to him, so I wonder if his parents will have realized that when he's born since something changed. If she passed it on to him, then Isshin wouldn't need his human part anymore, and might have started to get his powers back when Ichigo was born.
It means that Ichigo will be the new Soul King eventually because he's every kind of existence rolled into a single, retarded package. Aizen got Aizened by the current soul king into producing the next heir to the throne of existence.
I'm pretty sure Abandon is gonna kill both of us if this is actually where the story is going.
We're safe, I'm fairly confident Aizen can't be power of friendship'd.
But then, it's the trollingest character written by the trollingest author, so it's all up in the air.
