Yeah. I'm thinking Kensei was the Squad 9 captain as Tousen was most likely not there. With Urahara as the Captain of Squad 12, possibly Yoruichi was the Captain of Squad 2 as I believe she left SS around one hundred years ago.

As far as the Kenpachi thing, I'm not sure if it was the Kenpachi we know, or another Kenpachi before him that our Kenpachi ended up beating. The Squad 11 leader seems to always hold the title "Kenpachi" either way. Not sure where Isshin will fit in. I could see Squad 10 being a possibility, because a relative to Byakuya was possibly a Squad 6 leader. That's just me guessing of course.

I dont think Yoruichi was ever a captain. just leader of the special forces squad. It's never been stated in the manga, and she implies she's never been in the gotei13 to ichigo.

Oh really? Hrm. May have to go back and reread then sometime. I wasn't sure, was just a guess anyway.

I'm kinda confused as to where they jumped to in this week's manga. oO Though I had a feeling some of the Vizard had been squad captains at some point in time. : p Seems like Bleach is starting to get just as epic as Naruto finally..

a century in the past (as said in the chapter). I'd say 108years to be specific. since the chapter is numbered #-108. next chapter they'll skip ahead again.

Do we know they'll go ahead again? Other than lay down a few interesting details there wasn't really a big "story" in this chapter, I wouldn't be surprised if there are some more stories shown of the past. Possibly ones that give us a hint as to how the vizards will react to the battle in K-town.

I think they're talking about our Kenpachi. Shinji refers to him as a "loose cannon" on page 10, and Love mentions that there's a new Kenpachi due to the "previous Kenpachi's ineptitude". Tousen said a long time ago that Zaraki was the first person to become a captain by killing the previous captain.

Ichigo's mom is named Masaki or Misaki, something like that.


EDIT: I just took another look at it, and based on where Kensei is standing on page 16, he seems to be the captain of 9 (11th is stated to be absent, and he's right next to Jushiro).
