Except I'm sure if they go in depth with this, we'll see more with Squad 6 and assume that's the case. Also, you know as people age, they tend to shrink somewhat. That's how I see it anyway. The two resemble each other much too closely for him not to be, but I guess you are right. Opinions are opinions.

The old man always seemed to be a member of the Kuchiki family. Perhaps he was disgraced in the affair that cause Urahara and all of those other captains to go rouge. The old man retired in favor of Byakuya, and out of respect for the former captain's position, Byakuya kept him on as an advisor for his house. That's just the way I see it. D:

Yeah, I was thinking Father Time sure took a bat to him if it's the same guy.

Of course, it could be that the captain in the most recent chapter is Byakuya's father, who is stated to be dead by the time Rukia is adopted, and the old man in those scenes is his grandfather. It would explain why the old men sorta look alike anyways.

Yeah, they have no respect for their saturday night fans with how they practically change the schedule every few weeks, bitch about poor ratings (because they'll show their comedy shit instead), and try to shove Super Deluxe and crap down our throats in commercial time. I'm not really sure how Sci-Fi's anime nights are doing since I don't get the channel, but I can only hope they succeed where AS chooses to fail.

One of the super anime geeks should make a big sticky post categorizing a bunch of anime. So we have a big "if you like this anime..." thread and people can add on to it and list other anime's that are similar.

I'm going to go way out on a limb and say the 11th captain is Isshin.
It would explain why Kubo didnt show current Zaraki Kenpachi in the flashback and why noone would recognize (Ichigo)Kurosaki's name. I'm assuming of course that when current Kenpachi and Isshin fought for the captain spot, Isshin faked his death so he could live in the real world uninterrupted by soul society.

You are amazing dude, I had this same idea ever since I saw Isshin get his Shinigami powers back. It would also make sense if you think about it-- Zaraki Kenpachi got his haori offa the previous 11th Captain. He's sleeveless and tattered. Isshin's Shinigami Captain haori is but a piece of cloth over his shoulder, almost it like was ripped up... it all makes sense in my honest opinion.

Also this shot out to me, reading his bio on Wikipedia:

"During the Arrancar arc, Zaraki appears to Ichigo as his instinct and desire to win, explaining to him that they were both the type of people who lived to fight battle after battle. After Orihime is taken to Hueco Mundo, Kenpachi arrives with Byakuya Kuchiki to retrieve T?shir? Hitsugaya's group and bring them back to Soul Society. Later, in Hueco Mundo, Kenpachi comes to Ichigo's aid during his battle with the arrancar Tesla, dealing the arrancar a mortal blow with a single strike and then engaging Nnoitra Jiruga in battle. After sustaining several injuries, Kenpachi emerges victorious by using kendo, landing a massive blow to Nnoitra. Kenpachi stands over Nnoitra's corpse and thanks him for a good fight."

Ive recently thought of a hole in that theory tho. when Isshin killed Grand Fisher, Shinji said he didnt recognize his reitsu. suppose it is possible he could have just forgot tho.
