Alarial you're not good at interpreting Bleach. Sorry man.
Yes, Final Getsuga Tenshou is a retcon. However, it's a retcon that still fits with the storyline. Instead of a "Final" attack, it is now a "Desperation Skill" which he will probably never use again as he is much stronger than what he was then. Gren stated it best: "It's him simply becoming Getsuga itself." His dad also knows the skill as well-- the line in the manga with Isshin talking about FGT is just him explaining to his son that the Asauchi spirit does not want to teach them FGT because of the obvious Shinigami power loss after using Mugetsu (while being under FGT).
As for the actual spirit residing in Ichigo. He did all of his training up to that point and beyond while being unconsciously unaware of Bach-Zangetsu holding back much of his power. It simply means he still knows all of the shit he learned up to this point and yet he's much stronger now. His true Zangetsu only appeared after he became fully aware of the triple nature of his powers (i.e: another retcon to include his Quincy power and ties off his heritage).
Also for the sake of arguing, I used the word "Asauchi." Its incorrect, so instead I will say "Zanpakuto Spirit."
I just don't understand why all but a few people that post in this thread GET that. A few people just... wiff everytime
I also thought I'd point out that in the panel he quoted Zangetsu said they were both his power; he never said what types or what it meant and Ichigo never asked. In terms of continuity this is the only current explanation for differences between FG and his true form - that Shirogetsu and Bachgetsu are elements of his powers but two distinct entities. It's a terrible retcon but what else can you do?
Yea, pretty much. I chalked up the entire flashback story & Zangetsu reforge to be just one gigantic retcon of many plotlines, which also includes FGT (which I'm almost certain was supposed to be the "end" of Bleach back then). The only reason why it all works is the simple fact that Kubo left much of the plotline open wide enough for retconning if need be by being ambiguous where he could.
I'm not sure why you're assuming I don't "get it." I'm fully aware it's a retcon. I'm just not agreeing with you that it's a retcon that fits with the story. That goes against the definition of a retcon..

At this point, I sincerely don't care. I'm not sure why you're still attempting to convince me it's a retcon, while simultaneously trying to convince me why it works. I'm FULLY aware the logic Kubo/you're using to justify the sinc in story lines. I'm FULLY aware how it's just a retcon if you put -any- thought into it. I'm FULLY aware it "technically works" if you squint your eyes hard enough.
At no point am I "missing it" or "misinterpreting" bleach.
Anyways, it doesn't matter. Seriously.
But I'm a lady, not a dude, for clarity :D.

Well, s is already filled out...
Guess that's a better response than "tits or GTFO."

I'm Neosutra's Ex.
oh, that's always fun
I wouldn't know. He quit FFXI a while back.
Heh, many of us haven't touched it in years either.
Anyway, I see someone named "Sutra" lurking the thread and I find that to be amusing in some kinda way.
But on the subject of Bleach; Kubo hinted at a Komamura power up a while back... but does anyone think we're even gonna get to see it?
Over the years, what has that guy even ever really accomplished?
He punched a whale.
I know I've always wanted to do that.
I've hated him simply for being a furfag, but maybe there's some teenage boy fetish for dog men over there. Him even getting page time this arc made me sad.
This fucking thread is why abandon is the best poster in the forums
