Yama isn't even close to Transcendential Ichigo and Aizen.

I'd put Yhwach over Yamamoto, too; he did the decoy thing so Yama wouldn't decimate his forces while he talked to Aizen. When the real Yhwach got back, he speedblitzed and killed Yamamoto in a single hit, without even using Vollstandig.

I disagree. Yamamoto was plotkai'd against both Aizen and Juha Bach. Pretty sure they both also stated something to the effect that if they had fought him head on they would've lost miserably.

Aizen said that there was a possibility that Yamamoto could beat him if they fought directly. Since Aizen is not one to underplay his own abilities unless it's the truth, that puts Aizen and Yamamoto on a similar level. It's telling that even with Yamamoto's "I'm the strongest Soul Reaper born in the last 1,000 years", he still thought a suicide attack that would wipe out most of the Captains (including Shunsui, Ukitake, and Unohana) was the best method to take Aizen down.

Yhwach never said anything of the sort. After arriving at where Yamamoto is, he summoned his bow-arrow-sword, then effortlessly shanked Yamamoto in a single hit. Yamamoto didn't have his fire barrier up from bankai, but it's unclear if that would block a pure energy attack, and Yhwach wasn't using Vollstandig, either.

Uh, after having his bankai stolen. That's like saying Kenpachi speedblitzed Unohana.

Yamamoto's bankai doesn't enhance his speed, so it's irrelevant to him getting speedblitzed, and it's arguable how much the armor would have helped against a pure energy assault.

It had to have mattered quite a bit, since Bach set up an elaborate plot to remove the bankai from the equation.

If he wasn't worried about it offering Yamamoto protection, he wouldn't have stolen it.

There's no indication that he stole it because it was protecting Yamamoto; the massive offensive power it has would be reason enough for Yhwach to steal it, and I would be unsurprised if, as the progenitor of the Quincies, he could use both it and Volstandig simultaneously, but even if he can't, I doubt anything he has can do as much focused damage as a 15 million degree sword.

He can stand toe to toe with an Aizen who is just standing there, you mean? As soon as Aizen attacked, he showed that he was completely above Shinji (chapter 387, page 14). Not to mention Shinji was one of the 4 captain level fighters that he cut down instantly in 392.

It's so exact, there's no way it isn't.

Hero gains new powers, and is heading home to save his friends who are already locked in a life or death battle.
Hero is given some kind of food to carry, which has restorative properties.
Hero is told the trip will take a long time running the path, so they say "screw it, I'll fly at top speed over/through the path and make it take a fraction of the time".
Mentor(s) talk about how Hero has grown.

Every non-series specific detail is exactly the same, so it has to be a complete reference.

But shouldn't Shinji's Shikai still be in effect? Although, i guess if this chick is strong enough to wipe out Soul Society, maybe she's just firing in every direction.

And as far as the DBZ comparisons.. he even got a Senzu Bean -- didn't he get some of those after running down the Dragon Road?
