Benediction could add a RR effect on all party members in range. Maybe RR1 with 1 merit, and up to RR3 with more merits (each upgrade could cost 10 merit points, as well). That, or, as Valena said, it could raise the dead people in range...
Perfect Dodge may seem to be a crappy ability, I'm pretty sure no thief would say that they've never been happy to have Perfect Dodge to get out of a bad situation (or it would be a lie). Of course I'd like to have a useful damaging ability like other jobs, but really I would miss Perfect Dodge if they changed it to something else (making it dodge Ranged Attacks too would be nice, though -_- ). As for improvements with merits... 100% critical hits when striking from behind would be nice (criticals like Sneak Attack would be awesome). Maybe each merit could increase the damage of those critical hits, starting with normal critical hits with one merit, up to "Sneak Attack" hits with capped merits!
Mijin Gakure... An automatic "Back to HP" would be useful (it sends you immediately back to your Home Point without asking, saving you 1 click and a few seconds in the process!)
More seriously, a Reraise effect would be nice, or an additional effect on the monster, as someone said before : Maybe a combination of a powerful Flash + Blind + Stun (caused by the "explosion"), and duration/power of the effects could be increased with merits.
