    Meriting 2-hours....any ideas?

    I've been thinking a long while about "what if SE gave us the chance to merit 2hrs?" and made some systems / upgrades that would be pretty nice, but not too game-breaking. Who doesnt want their 2hr beefed up? and most of them arent worth the 2 hours it takes just to use it again. I think a Group3 category for each job with a 4-5 merit cap would work, if SE tried to let you specialize your 2hr in some way. Here are a few ideas that might work for each job (leaving out ToAU jobs and DRG lol)

    Mighty Strikes
    -Merit: Grants an Accuracy bonus while Mighty Strikes is active.
    +1 Merit raises Accuracy bonus by 5.

    Hundred Fists
    -Merit: Adds a chance to critical hit to your attacks during Hundred Fists.
    +1 merit raises Critical Hit rate by 5%.

    Chainspell
    -Merit: Adds a reduction in spell cost for the duration of Chainspell.
    +1 merit raises reduction by -5%.

    Benediction
    -Merit: Adds a Refresh effect after Benediction.
    +1 merit raises Refresh effect by +1.

    Manafont
    -Merit: Increases all spell potency during Manafont.
    +1 merit increases spell potency by +5%.

    Perfect Dodge <- lol
    -Merit: Decreases attack delay during Perfect Dodge.
    +1 merit increases effect by -10%.

    Invincible
    -Merit: Decreases Enmity loss during Invincible.
    +1 merit increases the effect by 5%.

    Blood Weapon
    -Merit: Grants an attack bonus during Blood Weapon.
    +1 merit increases attack bonus by +5%.

    Eagle Eye Shot
    -Merit: Grants the chance to fire a second shot with EES, increasing damage by 2x.
    +1 merit increases chance by +10%.

    Mijin Gakure <- lol
    -Merit: Increases damage dealt by Mijin Gakure.
    +1 merit increases damage by +5%.

    Meikyo Shisu
    -Merit: Grants an attack bonus during Meikyo Shisu.
    +1 merit increases attack bonus by +10%.

    Astral Flow
    -Merit: Increases damage dealt by Astral Flow.
    +1 merit increases damage by +10%

    Familiar
    -Merit: Raises your pet's attributes for a longer duration.
    +1 merit increases duration by 5 minutes.

    Soul Voice
    -Merit: Increases all song potency during Soul Voice.
    +1 merit raises the effect by 2.


    All in all, i think being able to merit 2 hours would be a great move, im not sure about DRG/BLU/PUP/COR/THF/NIN 2-hours, the THF/NIN 2-hours arent very useful so beefing them up would be kinda difficult. Any input or other ideas would be great, maybe we could throw this at SE during the next interview.

    some are great and well thought of...such as the benefit to chainspell (reducing MP cost, or a "natural" conserve MP would definitely be a bonus here) and the manafont one (Manafont is great at lowbie levels, but loses its punch the higher you get...adding potency always gets a BLM's eyes), etc.

    Some really wouldn't be that hot though....I think the refresh idea on benediction isn't as great as say having each upgrade reduce emnity generated by benediction. Just a thought though, in all I really like the idea.

    And yeah, we'll never see it. :D

    Ideally Mighty Strikes merits would give you a haste bonus so that you could feasibly use two-handed weapons and not get screwed.

    truthfully i never really thought much about some 2hrs, BST was one of them....i thought Familiar was kinda strong already so longer duration might be worthwhile lol

    Nice work, sounds good but yeah thf and nin 2hours imo are kinda lame, they should at least make Perfect Dodge longer if anything.

    BST's 2hour is powerful but only if you charmed a IT pet and use it beforehand. But using it mid fight on a DC-EM pet against a mob that checks T, but is hitting like a VT, does absolutely nothing.

    The merit for Familiar should be something that can help a BST in a "Oh shit if I don't do something i'm gonna die" situation. And if you're thinking, "why don't the BST go over to an IT pet, charm it and 2hour" because charming ITs are like pulling teeth. The chance of success on the first try is like the chance of you surviving a game of russian roulette with a revolver loaded with 4 bullets.

    Chainspell already lasts one minute, being the fourth longest 2hr there is (After Familiar, Soul Voice and Astral Flow).

    Invincible might be better if every merit reduced magic damage by a certain percent, maybe 20% per merit, so with 5 merits it blocks 100% physical and magical damage. You know, kind of like you were Invincible (it always bothers me why Invincible doesn't block magic damage).

    Perfect Dodge could also give a flee effect for its duration (a minor boost but could be good for sac pulls if flee isn't up or if you really just want to cheese it and get out of there).

    Dragoon's Spirit Surge... hm... I can't think of anything for that either.

    I kinda like Familiar's extended duration idea. Maybe even restoring pet's HP to full would be nice.

    Wild Card could be buffed up to restore HP as well or add enchantments like Enpoison or Enblizzard or whatever like that on random party members.

    Just some ideas.

    Maybe a merited Mijin Gakure could boost/double the DMG dealt to the enemy?

    Uh, how does that make a difference. 1h weapons would get it too.

    This is definately an 'if only SE would check BG ' suggestion. I wish they paid attention...

    My ideas for the ones you didnt do/suck ass:

    DRG - Spirit Surge
    Increases Jump and WS damage by 15% per merit.

    BLU - Azure Lore:
    Increase spell accuracy by 5% per merit, increase damage by 5% per merit as well.

    PUP - Overdrive:
    Enhances effect of attachments by 20% per merit.

    COR - Wild Card:
    Reduce the chance of odd numbers by 15% per merit.

    THF - Perfect Dodge:
    Increase critical hit rate and damage by 10% per merit while behind the mob.

    NIN - Mijin Gakure:
    Increase damage by 20% per merit, final merit adds a RR effect as well.

    DRK - Blood Weapon:
    Increase duration by 10 seconds per merit, increase accuracy by 3% per merit, 3% haste per merit.

    BST - Familiar:
    Adds a 2 tp/tick per merit TP regen and enhances level by 1 per merit.

    There is still that Sic timer, and I definately don't notice a huge damage difference between 100% and 300% TP on pet WS

    Very nice idea.

    Maybe reducing the casting time of spells during Manafont would be more beneficial, though.. it just doesn't last long enough when you're trying to blast lvl4 spells/lvl3 gas/lvl2 ancients. x(

    I would rather have Invincible give a small amount of Magic Damage Taken -% effect or have a M.Def. Boost. If it was a straight % probably cap it at 10% or so.
