PNY nVIDIA Geforce 7600 GS 512mbs

Probably a month ago my ATI Radeon 1600 Pro 512Mbs fan broke off, so I had insurance to replace it from CompuUSA, well the didn't have any in stock so they said this is the one comparable to it. I am VERY disapointed. Unless I am having driver issues or something else, my video graphics completely suck compared to the smooth crisp bright graphics I got from the ATI.

Does anyone else have the nvidia card and maybe know if I can update the driver to make it perform a lot better? Is there a link where I can download the driver. I can't find it on nvidia.com.

    Thank in advance.

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html ?

    Latest release driver anyway.

You can also try tweaking your color settings and the settings inside FFXI. Before assuming it's the card itself, make sure you're running the same actual settings that the ATi card was.

    So that driver will work?

Does anyone else have this card and experienced terrible graphics?

I remember with the ATI I never had to mess with the settings and got a beautiful picture at the start. ATI > nvidia?

nVidia, like ATi these days, uses a unified driver architecture. The Forceware driver there works for nearly any Geforce card made. The 8800s I think require pre-release drivers or something ATM, they're the only ones that had a different driver.

I've had a Geforce 2MX, Geforce Ti4400, Geforece 6800, and now 7900GT in my main machines. I've also had a Rage 128 card and a Radeon 9000 in my second computers...along with of course working with a LOT of different cards in friend's machines and at work.
You shouldn't be seeing terrible graphics.

My personal experiences tend towards nVidia > ATi, but I was scarred at an early age. Waiting 18 months for hardware to get release drivers that aren't missing major features, and make the card perform at the level it supposedly did out of the box will do that.

Tends more to be what people have had better luck with IMO. There are crappy nVidia cards...I just never owned one. There are great ATi cards, I've not owned one of them either =P
Picture quality shouldn't be all that different. However, default settings can vary. If your ATi defaulted to having a click or two of Digital Vibrance and your nVidia card doesn't, then that'd make a bit of difference.
