Since the "bank" is technically clean of wrongdoing, they can argue with SE about banning them, because technically, they just sat there with overpriced arrows in their bazaar.
Wow... that's actually fairly clever. I wonder if there's any technicalities SE could nail them on. I remember at one point they said that any gil obtained through exploits could be confiscated regardless of who it goes to, but I guess this technically wasn't an traditional exploit (using game mechanics to gain without hacking) so much as cheating to do a legitimate quest....

SE has the power to ban anyone they like for no reason at all. I hope they had the confidence to investigate and ban the bazaar banks too.

I think it was just a way to reduce the amount of time spend in banking the gil; having a zombie bazaar requires less time and co-ordination than actually opening a trade window.

There don't need to be any technicalities. Square-Enix can ban anyone, at any time, for any reason or no reason at all. If Square-Enix knows they were exploiting a flaw and are able to track it to identify the people doing it well enough to satisfy their own standards, they can (and I hope would) ban them regardless of technicalities.

It also somewhat removes the element of consent and acknowledgement between the two parties. Huh? Who's that? I never traded that guy money, I was just minding my business and he bought items from my bazaar. Like you said, they can ban anyone they want for no reason at all, but I'm sure IGE is taking every possible precaution, and to them this probably qualified as "less risky".

It always amazes me that they come up with such smart ideas like this, but do some of the dumbest shit I've ever seen when it comes to actual game mechanics. >.>

Assuming it doesn't get me caught up in the operation, in SE's eyes, I should go find that mule in Selbina, then park a mule of my own there with a similar name but "L" instead of "I" or a transposed pair of letters. I could bazaar the same thing for the same price, and sit on top and hopefully get targetted first.

No, they are planning to change the d/c icon in the next two days, with a 3 hours maint. on EU prime time.

    There are two 57.dats

One is Sauromgue Champain. And the other is..... you guessed it, Selbina.

Well he asked which zone 57.dat is, and the only two zones that correspond to a 57.dat are Selbina and Sauromugue. So maybe he's right about it being the DC icon or something, because it's not related to a zone.

Those are ROM\26\57.DAT and ROM\27\57.DAT. So no idea what ROM\21\57.DAT is.

You're right that SE can really ban you for almost anything, but any of their bans are subject to review, and if there isn't enough evidence of what you got banned for, your ban can be overruled. So I think they are pretty careful.

I didn't think of the similar name, and I wish I had...

now i wonder how much gil was actually created this way since this c.nest map quest has been in the game forever. I wonder if they do this to any other quests besides the drain/aspir/warp ones >.>

Too many unknowns to know exactly, but if you assume they were just doing the two 10k monuments, that's 20k per char. How long to create/pos/pos/pos/pos/pos/dumpGil/delete one character?

Divide 24hrs by that number and multiply by 20k and you got what one char can do in a day, more or less. Take your own guess at how many days they've been doing it and how many characters per server and you can start seeing that the order of magnitude can grow quite large.

lol This shit is still going on. I'm exping here in Sarumogue and I've seen 2 people flee by already at super speeds. One actually slowed down as it walked by my camp but I followed and it sped up after it passed us heh..
