You make it sound like D Ring is going to be a standard piece for PLDs to wear. Also, fuck Jelly Ring, I'm not wearing that shit.
Ok fun discussion, but sleep calls.![]()

The only mobs I bother to engage are generally the ones that attack fast enough where actually parrying can help keep shadows up longer.Originally Posted by Krandor

That's exactly my standpoint on engaging and same situation for myself and a D.Ring.Originally Posted by Xavier

Huh? You didn't get the free D-Ring when you unlocked PLD? Wow, you must have started after the update. Poor bastard.
<.<;;
That seams the case in what SE is trying to do. Plus the increase in AoE TP moves that NM's can do would support that. Reduction in damage taken also provides the ability to maintain hate longer. The enhanced sentinel effect is a vast improvement and I'd like to see paladins tank more difficult mobs without the need for ultra rare and expensive gear. But then again, relying on a 3 minute job ability (without merits) is kind of risky.
Ice, go to hell or send me a new UT disc. Or both.
And yeah we need to get you a D Ring, it's really annoying that one of the best items in the game that ::gasp:: actually makes a noticeable difference when you equip it comes from such a crappy/overhunted/easy HNM with crappy secondary drops.
I tend to do the same though as far as engaging out of habit, I don't even think twice about it normally. My parrying has been stuck at 250 forever though.![]()
But yeah, sleep calls for me too. Was fun, night!
I keep macroing gear in and out. Basically switching from turban to Aegishjalmr (no Bahamut Mask for me as of now) during Flash, Cures and JAs (Sentinel, Shield Bash, Rampart) and then back to Turban for Utsusemis (every second counts for me on that one, specially on stuff like Cerberus)Originally Posted by Xavier
Jelly Ring's not that bad.Originally Posted by Krandor
The problem with it, like most of the +/-% traits, is that they are so small, that they only effect the gradual over-time scenarios. To see immediate results, you've got to stack the stuff on. For PLD, there isn't very much -% Damage gear available to them, and if it is, it's mostly all physical damage. I also imagine that there's probably a hard-cap for this too.
But, hey, -7% Hauteclare + -5% Jelly is -12%... that's kind of a D.Ring! :D
Of course, if you're going /NIN, then -%damage taken gear is mostly unncessary. And arguably more beneficial since you're negating all damage.
Except instead of taking 10% less magic damage, you take 5% more.Originally Posted by Talint

I haven't read the last 7 pages but PLD/NIN with Aegis can't be THAT much better than PLD/NIN with Koenig and PLD/NIN with whatever Sword/Shield is gonna take less damage than Hauteclaire/Aegis PLD/WAR right?
Maybe you should read the other 7 pages and get caught up on the derail and what not. Nobody is talking about Macu+1/Koenig PLD/NIN vs Hautclaire/Aegis PLD/WAR.Originally Posted by Starr

I think Sentinel would need to last for double the current duration and the recast would need to be cut down a little further and pld/war with absolutely amazing gear could be good, pld/brd etc would hold amazing hate etc.Originally Posted by RKenshin
The problem is that they've given PLD a taste of real dmg mitigation its just whenever sentinel isn't up its the same old job, whereas shadows just keep being casted. \:D/
Aegis should allow you to do this though. Really I would like to see stuff like that tested out. If pld still does best as /nin even with Aegis and can't /brd or /drk it's not as godly as everyone proclaims, IMO, outside of the heavy magic dmg mobs. And I'm thinking there would still be a middle ground. Fafnir can probably be tanked best as pld/brd with Aegis, but Tiamat I'd still /nin just because criticals hurt, a lot. And pld/drk on sky pop NM's should be fun simply because Arcana Killer (ok ok souleater vorpal blade ftw).Originally Posted by Xavier

I feel pretty confident it can, just need to personally test it all out.Originally Posted by Eaglestrike
