Being a fan of old kungfu movies, I chose monk as my main job and wanted a philosopher name to suit it. Zarathustra was both a philosopher and a monk. I studied him a few months prior and liked his principles. I used to get alot of random tells but not so much now...

...so "Zarathustra" is a musical piece [see Ric Flair: WCW theme (Richard Strauss, Also Sprach Zarathustra)], a middle eastern philosopher [Zoroaster of Zoroastrianism], and that famous text [Nietzsche].

Matthias was the name of the 13th apostle of Jesus Christ, the one who took judas iscariot's place after his death when the apostles went to jerusalem to speak on the day of pentecost.

Matthias was also the name of my ranger character in dungeons & dragons who is currently tracking down the fate of his usurped parents in the eberron world

This was forever ago when I was in Middle School...
but, I got the name Starfire from the show Teen Titans.
She was pretty bad-ass back then, lol.

I was taking Japanese in high school and we had just learned the word "Denchi" which means Battery in english.

So I thought "What the hell" and named myself Denchi

I wanted Myth, because that's the name i've used through many online games, and wasn't able to use it. So I had a random generator make my name and it was Nargoth, I started the character in bastok. I didn't read the instruction manual or anything and I couldn't figure out the controls, so I deleted the character. I also thought Bastok was ugly. Then I tried making Myth again and it didn't work, so i stuck an 'e' at the end of it and made Mythe.

I was sitting on FFXI character creation screen trying to think of something unique when I saw an old script from my high school's production of Oliver sitting on my bookshelf, so I chose a name from the script.

My first character was named Guyver. Took it from the anime, the best series I like ^^. Retired him last year.

Second character(current one) is named Solinari. Took the name from the Dragonlance series. Solinari Is the god of White Magic, and I'm a WHM so I thought It went good together

Ferien - last name's Ferrantino, most of my friends call me by either my last name or just "Fer," so I took the first three letters and added something more catchy and RPG-appropriate. Apparently it means holidays in German, which my LSmates constantly remind me.

From Sanosuke, the character in Kenshin. Had only recently started liking anime at all when I first started playing this game. One of the first anime's my friends showed me was Kenshin, and I thought Sanosuke was pretty badass.

I'd like to say Sanosuke was taken as a name, hence the spelling(which it was, in fact), but truthfully... I hadn't taken Japanese yet, so I had no idea that there was a 'u' in there. Oh well.

Elphaba is the Wicked Witch of the West in Gregory Maguire's book "Wicked", which is also a very popular musical on Broadway. I adore Idina Menzel, who was Elphaba, so.. yeah.

Geh! I loved that book, and loved the songs in the musical even more.

I just got my name out of thin air one day. My b/f bought two copies of the game, one for me and one for him. He made his account, but I was still trying to think of what to name my character. Later, while lazying around on the couch, I turned to him and go "Hey, what about Singe?"
Singe was taken and so was Synge, so I settled on Syng. Everyone pronounces it sing though :\
