I'm amazed people knew about that game then I expected. It was an RPG I thought was brillant and SNK had even planned to do a home cart of the game on the neo but it was shelved before it became a reality.

I had been using variations of Phoenix prior to FFXI on different online crap, but (surprise) it was taken. So instead of being unoriginal and doing something like Phoenixxxxx etc. I decided to look for an interesting name from a baby names site. I found this:

AODH: Myth name of a Celtic sun god. It is the Irish and Scottish Gaelic form of Áed, meaning "fire."

I didn't want anything long and hard to type, this related back to the phoenix inspiration through the fire meaning. Oddly enough someone started (and still plays) about the same time, in the same nation on the same job and the same race with the name Aodhamair, meaning firey-haired one. Baby name site aswell.

Cent 4 in I and II. III we just play in random rooms.

I played a lot in I. Then just randomly when II and III came out. I hardly log on any more (my mic sucks and I'm too lazy/cheap to buy another one).

Did you ever know Xrayron, lordspec, Dirt187, or any [Tango] people from one? We were a pretty big clan that mostly played on Cen1, but would hop around looking for games when 1 was slow or full.

I don't even remember what name I used for II and III. I think just Whytewolf. But like I said, I didn't play those 2 nearly as much as I did one.

However, I ended up creating a new character since I wanted a Mithra character for RNG and THF, and thought about an Arabic name since my family and I are Egyptian. So, Shadida was what I came up with, since it sounded normal enough to be a name. It means "strong" (feminine adj.) - not in the sense of physical strength but more in the sense of fortitude.

Funny thing was one day some little Taru named Hamood checked me, and sent me a /tell: "Do you know what your name means?" I told him and he was shocked to know that I actually consciously came up with an Arabic name - he was from Kuwait I think. So, when someone asks what your name means be prepared to answer correctly!

Same thing happened to me late one night by a a couple people from my Limbus shell who were JP. They were suprised when I knew what it ment, I just wasn't another stupid gai-jin wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Gere means "spear wielder", I chose it because I intended to be a dragoon (and cuz my first name is Richard).

Sadly the infamous tp nerf came 2 days after I started playing.

Damn right. I get some flack from the purist fans over it but I still stand by my word that the NES version of this game was superior to it's Neo counterpart.

[Huggo]

Huggo (you pronounce it Hug- Oh) was a nickname given to me by the friends I always play Street Fighter 3: Third Strike with. I played as the Andre The Giant ripoff, Hugo in that game all the time. So they stopped calling me by my real name, and just kep calling my Huggo. Later when I went to make my FFXI character after they got me to play it, one of them says "So what's your name gonna be, Huggo?" and that's what I put in. Figured it'd make things easier for everybody.

Gares was a Dark Knight from Ogre Battle. Also have a variety of other char names each suited to their intended main jobs. Doku (Ninja Gaiden Xbox) for my SAM. Aesop is my bard, Drizzt my NIN, Mononoke my BLU etc.

Bethor is basically an angel who commands a whole army and is related to the planet jupiter. Since I'm born at the end of novembre I'm zeh sagritarius!

Always thought this name would be unique but I failed horribly lol.

Only a few know where the name is coming from tho.

So basically my name is related to the planet Jupiter and Sagritarius.
