I was looking through japanese dictionaries for cinnamon and kept finding the katakana which is shinnamon or something. Then found an entry that said Nikkei (Nih-kay). Turns out it's only pronounced that way with this kanji, 肉桂. Lujan explained later it was a japanese stockmarket and newspaper. ._.

Well, Epic was my online name for a long time, mainly since the SOCOM series started. Since, at the time, FFXI was my first MMO, I wanted to be all "hey I'm a legend around these parts... a hero!", so it was quite simple, and added the "al" at the end to make it seem like I'm epical, or of epic nature. 8)

Bit of a story on how I got to this lamo spinoff of a name.

Originally for every game I would play I'd use my name as the name, which was possibly worse. Eventually I sort of got tired of it after like doing it for every game I ever played, and my favorite anime at the time was Rurouni Kenshin.

The first game I tried to use that name was America's Army, but Kenshin was taken. RurouniKenshin was also taken, but I didn't like it much because of the length. I ended up going with Ru-Kenshin, and kept the name that way (even after joining a clan a while later). I was known pretty well by it as I got better so I didn't want to change it, and I started to get used to the nick names too (Ru, Ruke, Ruken, etc).

Later after FF came out me and a friend from AA made an account, he was Battousai and I wanted to keep my name... But, I couldn't use the dash like before. I didn't like the way it looked with both parts together but just went with it anyway since I couldn't think of anything else.

So yeah, Rukenshin.

Alexei, because I like names that sound like my real name Alejandro (spanish for Alexander). I wanted to name my char Alex but it was already taken. I thought Alexander sounded too cheesy, and then I thought of Alexei, which would still make people say "hey alex!" so that worked. My 1st job when I started the game was THF, so I was like "yeah I'm a Russian thief mwaha!" lol ._.

Jacen Solo is the Jedi son of Han and Leia from the Star Wars expanded universe. When I read it I always pronounced it like my name, Jason.

Some people in FFXI seem to read it as Jack-en or like it rhymes with "taken" though. I also had someone ask me if my name was Jacen because I like bacon.

Yep, Tolkien geek here. My name is derived from two Sindarin stems. Ele- meaning 'starlight' or use as an exclamation, Sir- is a stem indicating a river or flowing water, and -dur is just a common ending for male names. I was going for something like "Starlit River" or "Flowing Starlight" but after looking back at the syntax of Sindarin a few years later it doesn't quite work that way.
