Your FFXI name... What? Why? LOL? etc.

My name is from the 31st president of the united states Abraham Trinsie Washington. He was the first person to ever have a middle name. The story of his middle name states that while the country was at war with the evil battle droids he heroicly protected the prostitutes in a brothel sanctuary. Whenever he believed they would be under any danger he would cover them with his naked body to shield them from harm. Due to his bravery he was voted president by the Toys "R" Us birthday club. He was inaugurated president on January 12th Eighteen something by a galactic chicken name Trin in a secret castle under the sea. Hence to show his gratitude shoved another name between his two names and also got it tattooed on his left ass cheek one drunken night.

That is where I got it.

I've always used "Dark Vincent" through the internet since like 1997 :3 Not necessarily original, and no, Vincent isnt my real name (though my closest friends irl call me Vincent too). However, in FFXI you cant use spaces on the name and I find extremely stupid to use two names without spaces between, but I had that problem on many sites/forums/programs, and already used an alt name on them: Vice, since Vincent and Vince are usually taken. So it was an obvious choice to me when I started FFXI.

if you havnt guessed its safersephiroth (LOL) but why i shortened it to safersephx was because mannnyy moons ago when i was on IRC, i had something like safersephiroth, but it truncated it to 9 letters so left me with saferseph

so fast forward a few years, and im sitting thinking of a name and i jus remembered saferseph.. so i put that in.. its taken... so i added an x at the end to be cool

people usually think though my name stands for safer sex.... i get tells for it all the time lol

It's been my handle since I started using computers. I had my mom's bf make me an lolaol account, however he was drunk, and misspelled 'Piranha', so that is why my name is spelled the way it is. Even still I find that dumb people take my name before me when I try and sign up for stuff ><;;

Name came from the Piranha line of ships in Wipeout, I <3 Wipeout.

My brother got me hooked on FFXI, so I first created a character under his account. I couldn't think of any names so I turned on the TV and the commercial that was on was a Pringles commercial. I ran with that name until my bro stopped letting me use his account.

I bought my own account and started a new char, since Pringles was already taken I decided to follow a similar pattern that I already had started. "Ruffles".

Everyday I'll get the jokes of "Ruffles has Ridges?" or "Bet you can't eat just one!" even though that is a Lay's advertising slogan.

Garret - Most people think it's my actual name but I took it from Terry Brooks' Shannara series. One of the characters in one book was named Garret Jax & I liked his plotline a lot.

I thought about using my standard FPS handle, CrazedLunatic, but it didn't seem very RPG'ish.

I wanted Wren but it was taken by some JP Mithra with no ls for 3 years (everytime I see him/her/it, they don't have any ls), so I just added an h arbitrarily and now people think I got it by misspelling "When".

Jujube (jpn mithra) was taken so I used Jujubie. Thought it was a cute name for my redheaded Taru! My real name is Judy, so I get called Juju or Jude a lot in real life. (I know it is an old lady's name .....)

I started using the name "draakje" (dutch for little dragon) in the late 90s when I first started going to chatrooms (I still lived in Belgium back then so I didn't need an English name heh). Just translated it to Dragon after I moved on to IRC in 2000 or so but had to make the name sound female because everybody always thought I was a guy So I made it Dragoness, lol.
1st mule: Chicosa
At the time I made her I had 3 cats - Chino, Cobie and Sage.
2nd mule: Meowies: I have 5 cats total now (heh) and I couldn't find anything cool with the names of the new cats so I just named her Meowies :D

Oh yeah, all 3 chars are Mithra :D <3 cats ^^

i've been a nine inch nails fan/geek since i was 8 years old and always used a form of Rezn0r for everything online since the bbs days... ffxi didn't allow numbers and i didn't want just 'Reznor' so i put the boston accent to work. a few days after release i tried to grab Reznor for a mule but someone else already had it, who i've become pretty good pals with since then. all my mules are nine inch nails songs too. what a loser.

Well, as we're 9+ pages of ego-boosting goodness, why not?

Kyreth is from my first MMORPG character- on Gemstone III when it was on GEnie. Although back then, a server size of 120 people wasn't exactly massive. I had some minor fame as one of the bigger fiters on the game (they weren't quite lolwarrior, but it was a near thing), and helped run one of the oldest Houses on the game (Argent Aspis) for a while too.

Back in my MUD playing days, I knew someone who used the name Stromgarde. Not knowing where it came from, when I picked up FFXI it sounded like a fairly unique and pleasant-sounding name.

Two weeks later, my roommate was playing Warcraft 2 and I saw the name on one of the maps and I couldn't help but laugh.
