I'm bet it's more of a "innocent until proven guilty" scenario (granted there have been other famous situations like this one, O.J. and the Ramses for example). I hate to just leave it at that, but I can't see anything being done if they can't be convicted of anything, whether they did something or not.

I don't expect anything to be done. The time for that is long past.

I do expect that people make an informed decision though, and not one merely out of disgust at GW. Hillary isn't the right choice imo for President...there's just too much sleaze involved.

    Sept: Rush is a joke.

I believe that there were rather a few convenient, coincidental deaths thought their campaign. You can take that for whatever it's worth, but in my opinion it tarnishes their credibility.

Actually, the more I hear from fearmongers like Rush (and even more whiny neo-con radio people), the more I'd like to vote Hilary into office.

If for no other reason than to give Mr. Limbaugh's ilk a terminal heart attack when a competent woman ends up President.

I know the Republicans would be all over her like she was a Playboy model at that point, simply because the concept would outrage half the party that a woman and one with the last name of Clinton (I know conservatives that spit and make the sign of the Cross at the name) would be popular enough to be made leader of the country.

It'd take less effort than making Bush Jr. look like a two-termer, and if you haven't noticed, the Republican Party (and Rove) managed to do so. And we'd get better results.

Clinton/Obama for 2008, thanks. Edwards is a decent alternative, but he doesn't have the name power- and love it or hate it, Clinton is a name to conjure with in America. Whether it's demons or angels being conjured depends on the person, but either way it's the most powerful motivational tool the Democrats have.

They don't need another weaksauce toxic candidate like Kerry, who should simply go hug anyone the Republicans field and drop their polls 10 points by proximity alone.

Yes, let's vote for a Presidential candidate just to piss off some extremist media mouthpiece. That's informed voting right there for sure. Definately a step up from whoever is most attractive.

The Democrats will win in a landslide no matter what. I just hope they get Obama as their choice instead of Hillary.

    I support this post.

Voting has become a total and complete joke, Americans have become so idiotic as to allow mudslinging and stupid shit like who's black or female decide elections (ok those two are over 250 years old)...when was the last time anyone voted on issues instead of a commercial or party line ticket?

I think you overestimate the Democrats' ability to be competent and underestimate the ability to scare people into voting with the use of terrorism.

Yes, their capacity for ineptitude is rather scarry. Considering what they have to work with this election, though, I have to believe it's impossible to drop the ball that badly.

Obama just needs to be young, black, and not Republican. He'll get the vote from most Democrats, minorities, and people that are jsut looking for a change in general in political attitude. Wether or not he makes good on his "I'm tired of political nonsense" claims is irrelevant...he makes a good pitch and looks good while doing it.

Unless he steals a couple hundred bikes in the next two years it's a sure thing.

No, no, no. Goddamnit that's not what people here (that are pro-ESRB ratings enforcement) are saying. We are saying that if kids want to purchase M and AO-rated games, the retailers should have to obtain the informed consent of a parent or guardian. We want parents making the decisions about what is right for the kids, not some clerk at Target. This isn't about "the government raising children in lieu of parents". It's just helping parents out. If video game retailers decide to take a movie theater model (voluntary enforcement of the ESRB ratings) that's fine. If they continue to refuse to, and think that selling games like GTA: SA to 12 year olds is reasonable, then you'll continue to hear all this "anti-video game" crap and more pushing of legislation.

He's not a Woman or Black though. If the Democrats pass up this chance to put one of them in the White House they should all move to France and hang their heads forever in shame at their amazing political failure.

I'm not really a supporter of affirmative action in general, and definitely not for presidents.

Actually, I already would have voted for Hilary, but that's just icing on the cake. I was one of those balance of voters that got Webb elected, because I liked the man and what he stood for...not because it'd be the nail in the Republican coffin.

I'd vote the same for Hilary- not that I like EVERYTHING about her (nobody's perfect) but I think so far, she's the best one for the job- and I don't think McCain's going to win this one...who's the only candidate on the Republican side right now that I think is a fair run for the office. Giluiani is close, but he should run (and succeed) as a House rep or Senator before going for president...though McCain/Giluiani would get my attention as a voter.

Sort of a derail, but what are -actual- issues people care about nowadays that a single -president- could influence?

Personally, I would like to see some -major- campaign financing laws changed. Politicians are in it for the money and I don't think that should be the case, but that's been a problem since the dawn of government. I just don't think rich lawyers with rich friends should be the only people able to run (and win) an election.

Secondly, I would like to depend on ourselves a bit more instead of relying on Taiwan, China, India, and random third world countries because of cheap labor. There's plenty of unemployed people here that would love to work for minimum wage. (Yes, I know minimum wage is hardly a life, but it's a hell of a lot more than sitting at home because there's a bunch of 8yr olds somewhere sewing soccer balls for a quarter an hour.) If it means things become more expensive or it cuts into corporate profits, oh well. It makes for a better country, imho. Also, let's fix our own problems before we start spending billions on other countries. When the whole world becomes one nation, we can start pushing that money into other countries. I know it's selfish, but if a country is at war or unrest, we should just let it play out unless there's some sort of genocide involved.

Third, which is the most important, which candidate is going to protect my rights given to me as a human being and an American? Bush, despite every thing he's ever touched in Iraq or Afghanistan, pissed me off the most with bullshit legislature such as the Patriot Act. I'd rather die to a terrorist act than watch this country fall under martial law due to the fear of a suicidal idealistic xenophobe.

I don't know which candidate supports these beliefs, but I pray they make it into office. I'm also completely uninformed about politics outside of Bill Maher and Jon Stewart, but...this stuff sort of rings true for me. I'm sure there's all kinds of political science I don't know that would debunk some of my ideas, but a little bit of idealism is nice every once in a while.
