Just because Grossman isn't some uber QB like Manning or Brady doesn't mean the offense totally sucks.
I am in no way writing them off. I really like the bears, and really dislike the colts, I honestly dont see this being anywhere near a one-sided game. I just think that tonight was much more important, much bigger, much more eventful, and much more emotional then this years superbowl could ever be. Most likely manning isn't going to perform against the bears like he did tonight, he is typically not very good in the post-season. In the post-season he's not much better than grossman and in all reality, the game depends more on the players running, recieving, and defending than it does the QB's. I expect interceptions, fumbles, drops, penalties.... Tonight was a clash of the titans, the superbowl is going to be a very defensive - take advantage of the other teams mistakes kind of game.
Ya I'll admit that tonight was more of an intense game between the Pats and Colts. And I think this Superbowl will be a bit more exciting then a lot of people think.

    Defense wins championships.

People are still in denial that the Bears dominated one of the best offenses in the NFL. If you think that there is no chance that the Bears' Defense will cause the Colts a tough time, then you're an idiot.

The Colts defense has answered all the insults about their rush defense. They have done a marvelous job of stopping the running games in the past three games. Everyone hates the Bears, so they will refuse the acknowledge the T. Jones/Benson RB duo of the Chicago Bears. Have you guys ever seen Cedric Benson rush with the ball? Have you ever seen how many tackles that beast can break? I don't care how great the Colts' rush defense has been doing, but they haven't faced a powerhouse like Cedric Benson. He's young, he's fast, and he hits like a brick wall. T. Jones is also something you can't look past. Look what he has done in the past two games.

Against the Seahawks and against the Saints, Grossman has made the plays when it mattered most, and he contributed greatly to the Bears' victories.

Lets not discount special teams. The Pats' kick returner ran circles around the Colts today. The Colts are going to be kicking to Hester at the Superbowl. Hester has had some serious problems with fumbling the ball, but if he doesn't, he can make huge plays with the returns. I imagine the Colts kicking away from him a lot.

The only real challenge for the Bears in the game will the Colts offense. If Manning gets a rythm going with his recievers, the Bears will be in huge trouble, but I see little trouble with the Bears responding on offense. They have plenty of weapons at their disposal as does the Colts. It's going to be a close game.

edit: Other than being the Champions of my home town, there is another reason I want the Bears to win. I want to laugh at all the people that are still going to be in denial if they win. I want to laugh at the people who are going to blame bad officiating or the Bears getting lucky, or some other lame excuses they will pull out of their asses.

I can't wait until Feb. 4. I think it's going to be a great game.

The bears held their own against the pats in foxboro and that was a game in which grossman played like shit. Again, they'll hafta have their defense to play absolutely lights out to have a chance in this game, and no way in hell Grossman gonna be able to turn the ball over more than once and expect to win. Let's be real though, even AFC quarterbacks can make a mockery of the best NFC defensive players

Thats the biggest reason I want the colts to win. Dungy deserves it, Manning deserves it, the Colts team deserves it, the state works it (were buying them a new damn dome).

I agree. I have to admit at first I thought Gruden was the greatest thing ever, turns out he's really just an extremely high paid offensive coordinator that has very little "talent" when it comes to... finding and developing talent lol. With what he did with Rich Gannon and Brad Johnson, it seemed he was a genius offensively, it turns out they had just both become pretty damn good players, and both had good coaches before him. (Dungy and Marty, I hate Marty but you can't deny what he's done with both Brees and Rivers)

On one side it's become clear that the Bucs ownership went out and bough a championship *right now* (at the time of course lol), and chose to allow themselves to deal with a rebuilding process after due to not being able to keep the heart of the team together. (Sapp, Lynch, Jackson, so huge in their success)

On the other hand, Gruden is clearly terrible at rebuilding, and needs to gtfo lol. I think the owners are a bit more concerned with running the biggest sports team in the world atm tho... so we'll see how it all goes.

Anyway yeah, Dungy built a fantastic team in Tampa, and he's taken a defense that was an utter joke and required 30-40 point games offensively week in and week out, and transformed it into one that can score 12 points and win-- in the playoffs. And he really hasn't changed the personnel all that much. He's done an extremely good job of developing the talent available to him, not only on defense but also with players like Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne on offense. And now he's got a back that will be great, and has been great at some key moments for them. He's looking awfully good.

I can't even imagine how good the team would be if Edgerrin James had never gotten hurt. They'd probably have the best QB, RB, and WR in the league, without much argument. For those that don't know, Edge was utterly dominant his first 2 years before a knee injury that made him miss a year and a half. IIRC, he had over 2000 yards from scrimmage (rushing and recieveing) in both his rookie and 2nd season. It's really too bad he won't be there to hoist the trophy, but the fact is he was never going to be the same.

So yeah I'll be cheering for the Colts, I'm not a real big fan anymore (I was when Edge was there heh), but I'd really like to see Dungy get a ring and if lolRex gets one that's just... wrong lol.

I want the Bears to win so Tekki is sad.

My two favorite teams are Da Bears and Indy though, since I grew up right in the middle of both teams. I would like to see all the experts pick the colts and lose like they did this week. So glad to be done with the "cinderella story" crap too, every week hearing about the Saints made me dislike them more than ever.

I tell ya what, the tension is going to be crazy here until this is over. I live right smack in between Chicago and Indy. When they send us those cheap sports controllers to my store they send both Indy and Chicago teams for NFL and NBA teams.

Bears have a good defense...but the Saints were hardly the offensive juggarnaut people made them out to be. They played in the 2nd weakest division in the extremely weak NFC. The Panthers dominated them twice, and the panthers let Jason Campbell beat them. The Colts are a much, much better offense than the saints, period.

Lots of people deserve lots of things, but that's never the basis for the win 8)

I agree that Manning and Dungy deserve a Superbowl. You know what though? There are plenty of Bears that deserve a ring too. Urlacher has worked his ass off for so long, bearing with a team that has sucked for so many previous years. Multiple Pro-Bowler Olin Kreutz has also worked his ass off, and he's finally getting his just rewards. Lovie Smith came in to the team, and turned them around from suck to good. In order for someone to do that, I think that's deserving of a Superbowl too.

Anyway, we can sit here arguing about who deserves what, but guess what? Deserving doesn't mean shit in football. The team that wins, wins.

for people that think the Bears can't win, i give you the Florida Gators.

i think the Colts will win still but it's going to be a close game unless turnovers or special teams break it wide open.

    This really fucking sucks.
I dislike both teams. This will probably be the first Superbowl in a long time that I don't even watch. I would not want to watch a game, where I want both teams to lose. I really find it hard to believe still that they both won.
Especially how quickly that Bears game got out of hand when it was only 18-14.
And this is all that's going to be on ESPN for the next 2 weeks too.

You can hate both teams, but if the game is anything like the one that was played between the Colts/Pats last night, then you'll be missing out. Still kicking myself in the nuts for missing the first 4 1/2 quarters.
